Catching Up With Matty

Those of us who worship at the altar of Matthias Schoenaerts are not fed well -- he hasn't been in anything since The Regime with Kate Winslet aired ten and a half lifetimes ago (otherwise known as uhh one year ago) and that's the way it's been for awhile -- one project a year, here and there, sporadically. We cannot surive this way, Matthias! Thanksfully there was some news on the Matty front this morning though -- he's signed in to star in a movie called Le Cowboy which has the super original storyline of a criminal roped into doing "one last job" that involves kidnapping a girl but then the two bond... yeah, we've seen this movie a thousand times before. Whatever. I'll watch him put his spin on it! The writer-director is Shane Atkinson whose film LaRoy Texas starring Steve Zahn and John Magaro played Tribeca last year and left not a huge impression on me, but I remember some people digging it.

Anyway that spot of new news made me realize that if we're lucky we might be coming to an end on the Schoenaerts drought -- I had completely forgotten for one that he is playing the bad guy in the Supergirl movie that DC hired I Tonya director Craig Gillespie to direct and which has apparently already been filmed. And he's also somehow in The Old Guard 2 even though (spoiler) he died in the first one, and we just got the first image from that movie last week. (See below.) So that must be coming out soon, I guess.

First look at THE OLD GUARD sequel! (And here's to hoping everybody's favorite ancient crime-fighting homosexuals Marwan Kenzari & Luca Marinelli have added Henry Golding into their mix)

And then of course there's The Way of the Wind, Terrence Malick's now many years in the making movie about Jesus (yes, Christ) that has Matthias playing the disciple Peter.  We first posted about that movie getting started SIX YEARS AGO. With Malick though who knows -- he could take another six years. The names in that stacked cast are endless -- Mark Rylance, John Rhys-Davies, Joseph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, FRANZ ROGOWSKI, Eileen Atkins, Aidan Turner, Mathieu Kassovitz. Also since it's Malick half of those people could end up on the cutting room floor -- it could be three hours of Mark Rylance spinning in a field for all we know.

ETA an hour after posting this Netflix unloaded some more images from The Old Guard 2 including one very much confirming Matthias' presence therein, and another one of eternal boyfriends Luca Marinelli & Marwan Kenzari, and far be it from me not to add them to this post!

The Old Guard 2 is out on July 2nd.
Oh and here's the trailer too since we're here:

Good Morning, World

Although I was tempted several times by the sheer bulky muscular weight of its casting announcements as they occurred, I now today that it is here have less than zero desire to go to a movie theater this weekend to see DC's new superhero flick Black Adam starring The Rock and Noah Centineo and Pierce Brosnan and Marwan Kenzari and best and most importantly of all Mr. Aldis Hodge, seen photographed here (via). Even with a love of the film's director (Jaume Collet-Serra directed motherfucking Orphan y'all!) I've been burned by DC too many times by now, and the word on this one is mixed enough to put the firm kibosh -- the firm kibosh! -- on that possibility. I'll watch it at home sometime where I can do seven other things and look up whenever the boys are being hot, as the lord intended. But if y'all go see it tell me what you thought, please. Now hit the jump for a few more Aldises (Aldisi?)...

Pic of the Day

Luca Marinelli and Marwan Kenzari, who play the ancient gay lovers Joe and Nicky (I love that they're immortal super-assassins named "Joe" and "Nicky" lol) in The Old Guard movies, were spotted together on the set in Trieste, Italy this week, and there they are (via). They were of course our favorite part of the first film so we're very glad to see them back being hot and gay for the sequel. (Also big props to Marwan on wearing a mask!) This is the second photo of them that we've seen on set, click here for the first.

Henry Golding Four Times

A few more photos of Henry Golding modeling for David Yurman have been released (via) -- I wouldn't blame you if you forgot the previous three photos since they were dropped five entire months ago, so you can click here for a refresher. They're just more of the same sexy browns and golds... taking his name literally there, ain't they? Anyway career-wise did you see the first picture of Henry Golding on the set of The Old Guard sequel alongside Marwan Kenzari & Luca Marinelli, the immortal homosexuals we all loved so much in the first movie? I guess Henry is filling the hole left by Matthias Schoenaerts and yeah I'm just gonna see myself out after writing that sentence. Hit the jump for three more pics...

Good Morning, World

When I stumbled upon this photo of The Old Guard and Martin Eden actor Luca Marinelli last night my first thought was this is too good to be true, that it must be photoshopped -- and it turns out I was right, only not entirely. That is actually a photo of him, just the original version (seen here) also had the actress Alba Rohrwacher in it. They were in a movie together in The Solitude of Prime Numbers and this was a promotional image for it (and there's actually another photo right here) -- anybody seen the film? No matter, we love Luca -- check our Luca archives for lots more of him, most especially this big gratuitous post here. I can't wait for the supposedly forthcoming Old Guard sequel so we can see him reunited with his forever lover Marwan Kenzari -- step aside, Eternals, they're the hottest eternal couple of all time.

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... elevating my heart-rate with Aldis Hodge.

DC's Black Adam movie is only just filming now, I believe, but it's already been one of the greatest gifts to mankind since the first wrestling singlet was sewn together from eagle's flesh -- as previously stated on many, many occasions this forthcoming superhero flick is somehow managing to cram Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Marwan Kenzari, and Aldis here all on top of each other in an all-out battle of the bulging fill-in-the-blanks. Biceps, pectoral muscles, my pants. Everything's a'poppin!

We've gotten loads of social media looks at Noah Centineo getting buffed up for his role, but he is the youngest of the cast obviously and social media's more his game, so this here video for Men's Health magazine has been our first and long long awaited look at Aldis doing his own personal Iron Man for our viewing pleasure (save this one admittedly incredible-edible gym selfie) and... it's a welcome add. Is it ever. I made some gifs! They're after the jump...

Good Morning, World

I think it's safe to assume that you, like I, have been paying the most minute attention to actor Noah Centineo's gym transformation from a perfectly hot young man into a Superhero Movie Actor over the past few months -- I have been documenting it here on the site in case you missed it! -- but he's really leveled up in the past week or two, presumably since I think DC's Black Adam movie, in which he'll play the Atom Smasher, will start shooting relatively soon. I'll admit I like Noah a little less bulked up, but I can't really blame him, given he'll be standing across from Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Marwan Kenzari in this movie. Hopefully after the movie he'll let the puffery relax! Until then we'll enjoy this, as a phase. Hit the jump for some snaps he shared a few days ago (I am terribly behind)...

Good Morning, World

As mentioned last week Netflix heartthrob Noah Centineo is co-starring in the DC superhero sausage-fest Black Adam opposite Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Marwan Kenzari, which would explain why his Instagram as of late has been nothing but training videos -- if you were gonna stand among all those legendary pectoral muscles you'd hire a trainer too. Anyway all that means -- besides I am breaking out my Shrub Costume so I can go chill on the set of Black Adam -- is that I've fallen behind on curating that gratuitous content, so I've gathered up a few highlights (including the full video of that ridiculous spectacle giffed above) for us this Monday morning; hit the jump for it...

A Marwan You Can't Refuse

At first I wasn't super interested in seeing a DC superhero movie starring Dwayne Johnson, an actor I've grown less enamored with over time ("time" hasn't really been the culprit, more like "every political statement he's ever given"), but Black Adam has filled out its cast with so many MNPP crushes at this point -- not to mention it's being directed by Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra!!! -- that it's become impossible to ignore. Oh well! First it was Noah Centineo (as Atom Smasher), then it was Aldis Hodge (as Hawkman), and today comes word that Marwan Kenzari (aka Hot Jafar and more importantly one half of the gay couple in The Old Guard) will be playing... well THR says the role is undisclosed, but online sleuths have sleuthed he's playing Sabbac, who looks like a big hot gay devil:

Let's hope they keep that character look -- lover me a bulging devil hunk, and too often they put shirts on shirtless comic book characters who don't need them! When you're shaped like Marwan Kenzari you don't need no damn shirt! (On that note you should definitely click here.) (And also definitely here.)

Long May Immortal Homosexuals Reign

.
Ooh I missed something, a big something, when I posted those new photos from The Old Guard on Monday -- The Old Guard being Netflix's forthcoming comics adaptation starring Charlize Theron, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, plus Marwan Kenzari & Luca Marinelli as a pair of immortal homosexuals. Having to do with the latter, obviously -- they also released a clip! A kissy clip! Watch:

I posted the trailer awhile back, right here; The Old Guard
drops on Netflix on July 10th, aka a week from tomorrow!

ETA Oh wait! They just dropped an entirely new trailer
for the film! I'll share that now too:

Pics of the Day

.
A big batch of new photos from Netflix's forthcoming comic adaptation The Old Guard have dropped online today (via) -- the film stars Charlize Theron as the leader of a gang of sexy immortals who mercenary around the world... a gang of sexy immortals played by the Belgian Beefcake himself Matthias Schoenaerts plus Luca Marinelli (more here) and Marwen Kenzari (more here)...
.
... the latter two who're playing a couple. A homosexual couple! Also in the killer cast: KiKi Layne as a newcomer and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the bad guy. We already posted the trailer (here) a few weeks back -- the film drops on Netflix on July 10th. That's just eleven days away! Hit the jump for plenty more immortal sexiness to get us there by...

If This Is Old I Must be Ancient

.
We've got the first trailer for The Old Guard today -- The Old What, you ask? The Old Guard, I said. I mean damn. I said it five seconds ago. Pay some attention. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood who made the ace flick Beyond the Lights a couple of years back The Old Guard stars Charlize Theron as the leader of a group of slightly-immortal mercenary warriors and KiKi Layne as a new round these immortal parts type, and all that's well and good but the real juice far as I'm concerned comes from the cast of menfolk Theron immortals around with...

... namely my main man Matthias Schoenaerts, "Hot Jafar" Marwen Kenzari (more here) and upcoming Italian actor Luca Marinelli (more here). And supposedly from what I hear those last two, Luca & Marwen, are playing a couple!

Yes please. And as if all that's not plenty (and it is, plenty)
the bad guy is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor! We heart Chewy!

Netflix is releasing the film on July 10th!
And oh right here's that trailer:

Click here for some previously posted photos from the film,
and click here for our very first post about the flick.

Good Marwan, World

.
This morning I'm wishing "Hot Jafar" -- before there was a "Hot Priest" there was a "Hot Jafar" -- from Guy Ritchie's live-action Aladdin movie, aka the actor Marwan Kenzari, a happy 37th birthday! I still haven't gotten around to watching Aladdin but seeing as how I watch a ton of shit I can't imagine I won't watch it some day, especially with Marwan and lead actor Mena Massoud magic-carpeting about -- even though I have been told there's not much if any sexual tension between those two, which is dispiriting.

These gifs are from Netflix's sci-fi movie What Happened To Monday that starred Noomi Rapace (the lucky girl seen outside of frame in this scene) which I've also never seen -- have you? It's got an insane cast that, besides these two, also includes Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe. Anyway when Marwan got cast as Jafar in 2018 -- how it works is he got cast as just "Jafar" and then made the character into "Sexy Jafar" through the act of his casting -- I did a great big gratuitous post on him right here that I definitely recommend you check out, but I somehow missed this scene when I did that, and so I've got the rest of it (which gets NSFW y'all) after the jump...

Pic of the Day

.
File this one under "Where the fuck has my head been at?" but somehow I haven't gotten around to mentioning Matthias Schoenaerts' new movie yet! (Which he is already filming, the above photo is of him bloodied on set.) Granted Matthias is busy these days (because we've been blessed) but it's really beyond the beyond that I haven't mentioned he's making a movie with Charlize Theron and Hot Jafar from Aladdin (sidenote: see tons of "Hot Jafar" actor Marwan Kenzari at this link).

The movie is called The Old Guard and it's an adaptation of a comic book series about "a small, covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed." Gina Prince-Bythewood, who made the fabulous film Beyond the Lights with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, is directing; the film will also co-star If Beale Street Could Talk actress Kiki Layne as well as Italian actor Luca Marinelli...

... who uhh I hope him and Matthias share some scenes.

Marwan Kenzari One Time

.
Wait the live-action Aladdin is out next Friday? I literally had no idea. I mean that's by design, since I decided after the one-two punch that was its trailer and the Lion King's trailer that I am dunzo with Disney's excremental soiling of their legacy titles. But I still thought I'd be avoiding the Aladdin mess for longer into the summer than this. Now what will I do with all my free energy? Go stare at my great big gratuitous post on its nevertheless sexy ass Jafar actor Marwan Kenzari from back in the day, you suggest? Good suggestion. Great suggestion. Bye!

Mena Massoud Eleven Times

.
Listen, I'm not going to pretend that the live-action re-do of Aladdin from Guy Ritchie is anything I am ever going to see willingly. Ever. But if you were to tell me that Mena Massoud, the actor playing Mister Aladdin Sir seen here photographed for Vulcan magazine, and Marwan Kenzari, the hot-to-death dude playing the villain Jafar, have some homoerotic tension between them like their cartoon counterparts did in the original Disney film, well, you might get me to watch a YouTube compilation of their scenes together. That's really the best we can hope for at this point, but it might be enough. Hit the jump for the rest of these photos...

Good Morning, Gratuitous Marwan Kenzari

.
Not that it's any of my business but I've really come to suspect that Guy Ritchie might not be the, you know, straight shooter he's been sold as via his great big testosterone-riddled movies. I mean I've heard so many gay men claim they are "Married To Madonna" that it just seems like a euphemism at this point - Guy just took it that extra couple of steps. (See Also: Timothée Chalamet dating Lourdes, maybe.) Anyway you can look at the way he's previously shot Charlie Hunnam, Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill, Jason Statham, or you can look no further than the astonishingly gorgeous Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari here, who Guy just picked out of all the guys to play the villain Jafar in his upcoming live-action Aladdin movie.

Do you think they will keep Jafar as queer as he was in the animated movie? I know a lot of people hate the Sneering Lisping Gay Villain Stereotype, but I am, as you know, not one of those people - I find that shit empowering as hell. (We even have an entire tag devoted to celebrating them here on the site.) And with somebody as Drop Dead Stunning as Marwan here, well, I might just print myself up a protest tee screaming "Keep Jafar Queer." Just change the parrot on his shoulder to the character that Billy Magnussen is playing and we're all set. Jafar Modernized!

Anyway Marwan has only been acting for a decade but he'd already established himself before this next big gig - he's been a co-star in the recent Mummy and Ben-Hur reboots, and in the recent Murder on the Orient Express movie... okay they've all been terrible (or so I've heard - I still haven't seen the latter) but hey, you take what you can get at first. Here's to hoping Marwan - who turns 35 today - can really show what he's got soon. For now let's hit the jump and see what he's got that he's shown already, and lemme tell you what, he's shown a whole heckuva NSFW lot...
