You Can't Spell Messiah Without Mess

I know that calling it Dune Part Three will make it feel like a closed trilogy more but I really miss this thing being called Dune:Messiah -- it's just a more interesting title. Do I think that because it might irritate Christians? I'll never tell! (Yes I will -- of course that's the reason.) Anyway the trailer for Dune Whatever has dropped today and surely you've seen it elsewhere -- I just wanted, nay needed, to make that gif of Robert Pattinson so I figured I might as well post the damn thing. That said I am excited about this -- I liked both of the previous movies a lot, even if I maintain against the hype that Austin Butler was terrible in the second one. I have total faith that RPatz will make for a serious upgrade in the anti-Atreidas establishment.

Dune Whatever (am I just calling it that now?) is out December 18th.

A Call Me By Your Name Mystery

This post's title has me imagining a series of CMYBN sequel books where Elio becomes a Jessica Fletcher type, solving mysteries around gorgeous rural Italy while fucking peaches on the side -- needless to say I would read the hell out of that series. But the actual 'Call Me By Your Name' Mystery is why the Sony Classics Instagram account posted the above video this afternoon with the caption "Tomorrow..." It's not any sort of CMBYN anniversary -- personally I'm thinking they might be announcing a standalone copy of the film in 4K. It's already gotten a 4K release inside of Sony's great big box-set alongside a pile of other amazing movies, but it is really overdue its own separate release. Maybe even one with a bunch of new special features! That would rule. It is crazy to realize that the movie is turning 10 in January, counting from its premiere at Sundance in January of 2017. A standalone 4K in time for that 10th anniversary makes a lot of sense. But who knows! Could be something else. I have no idea what that would be (a new vinyl of the soundtrack?) but I guess we'll find out tomorrow! I have long given up on a sequel ever happening. Although I did discover, while looking around just now, that a graphic novel of André Aciman's book IS coming out this August, which was news to me. I don't think that's what Sony is posting about but we'll see. Anyway that's out August 11th and you can pre-order it right here. The slutty anime cover-art is sending me lol:

Timmy Walks Into the Sea

Now that all of the ridiculous fake controversies have completely slid off of Timothée Chalamet and everyone has become sane and sober and fallen back in love with him (lol) I'm glad we're getting news on what our boy (if no one else's) is up to next -- besides Dune Part Three of course, which dropped its new trailer earlier this week. Although he's not attached to star yet Chalamet has signed on to produce an adaptation of the 2024 book Playground by Richard Powers, which has to do with A.I. and Climate Change and floating cities and I don't even know, it sounds like a lot. Obviously I haven't read it. Have you?

Anyway Deadline says that he's got first option to star so don't be surprised if this is his next project -- besides the third Dune and the probable Wonka sequel our Forever Elio doesn't have any projects announced. I wonder if he was holding off for the Oscar win that didn't happen to push up his price? Oh well he's still a big star, thankfully! Says me! I'll share the plot synopsis after the jump and you can tell me if it makes any sense to you...

Good Morning, World

I know it's kinda weird that I have done two Michael B. Jordan posts this week after he beat my boy Timmy at the Oscars on Sunday but the first one saw me being magnaminous while this one... this one's much more basic in its naked thirst. This one's just me seeing a photo from 2015 before the first Creed movie came out, a photo that I'd somehow never seen until yesterday,  and which I feel deserves its place here in the hallowed gratuitous archives of MNPP. Don't you agree?

Whatchu Dune

I've only ever read the first Dune book and I never watched the Children of Dune miniseries, so my knowledge of the weirdnesses that happens down the road in the Dune stories is limited to hearing random things here and there -- some sort of galactic space worm or something? Anyway the teaser for the third Dune movie Dune Messiah has just dropped today (or are they just calling it Dune Part Three now? Yawn) and I am excited! Especially with Robert Pattinson looking like such a freak in it. Freaky Robert Pattinson is always a good sign. This movie isn't out until December 18th though, so let's not let ourselves go too wild. Practice patience! And watch:

Thoughts?

Nothing will ever top Matt Keeslar as Feyd-Rautha in the 2000 miniseries though - the height of Cinema!

This is Not an Oscars Post

I said all I needed to say on the Oscars yesterday at this link when I shared my ranking of the Best Picture nominees -- now I'm just saying goodbye for the Oscar Weekend, saying "See you on the other side." One of the above two fellows will probably be cradling a golden man in their strong arms come Sunday night -- y'all know who I'm rooting for but whatever will be will be. And so be it! That said my hypocrisy keeps on keeping on because have no doubt I'll be posting about the show on Bluesky as it happens, so if you do want to see me get disgruntled in real time make sure to follow me there. For some people watching me get annoyed is the real entertainment! I'll take it. Have a good weekend, stay safe and stay as sane as is possible in the year 2026. And in summation... I can't say I'd be furious if Wagner sneaked in and pulled it out (so to speak, ahem)...

Pics of the Day

As I said just two posts down I watched some of the SAG Awards -- or The Actors, whatever, I don't care -- last night but switched over halfway through to watch the finale of my beloved Industry, which turned out to be an excellent decision. I'm on the record that I think Michael B. Jordan is the weak link in Sinners so I don't really understand that win at all, but whatever -- MBJ seems like a great guy and he's a genuine movie star so I get why people would want to reward him for such a big movie. I know the tide's turned on Timmy and it's super cool to hate on him these days but I personally think it's willful blindness to ignore how incredible he is in Marty Supreme. No Marty is not a "likable" character, but the second I start begging to watch likable people in movies is the day you can take me out behind the barn. Anyway the beautiful losers Timmy and Jacob Elordi were all over each other all night so we did win something! These photos.

You Two Had a Nice Friendship

I have no idea why Regal is screening a certain little movie called Call Me By Your Name in theaters today -- for a second I thought we'd reached the 10th anniversary but somehow, insanely, that's next year. But I'm not complaining -- I grab at any chance to slip back into the sweet summer ryhthyms of Luca's romantic masterpiece any chance I can get, just as Elio grabs at any chance to slip back into the sweet summer rhythms of his favorite lil' fruit friend. Point being I'm leaving early today to go see CMBYN on the big screen for... well I lost track but we're definitely somewhere between 25 and 30 times now. It's been a couple of years since I've re-watched the movie at all so I'm hoping this viewing will gift me back some of the much needed escapism I luxuriated in during the similarly awful stretch of 2017 when it was released. Fingers crossed. And as always you can catch up on my writing on this movie at this link, which was... extensive. let's just call it extensive haha. See you tomorrow, peach-lovers!

It's All Leather & Paddles

Apologies to the one commenter who keeps getting very angry at me for saying that Pillion is out in U.S. theaters this week because it's not out EVERYWHERE -- apologies because I am going to do it again! Pillion is out today, in SOME U.S. cities, some LUCKY U.S. cities, but I've already seen the movie like four times so I'm not keeping track anymore of where and when it's expanding. I assume it will eventually move on to smaller cities and then it will be on streaming and then we can all touch ourselves in unison to it -- a true happy ending. Anyway my NYFF review of the film from last fall can be read at Pajiba -- I love the movie and I am especially happy to see that A24 just dropped the vinyl of the film's score for pre-sale on their website, buy it here. That's the slutty back cover above and we co-sign. And also...

Blessings bestowed upon @thequeerreview.com and @jameskleinmann.com and photographer Mettie Ostrowski for giving PILLION director Harry Lighton the full leather-man treatment alongside their interview; read that here: thequeerreview.com/2026/02/06/i...

— Jason Adams (@jamnpp.bsky.social) February 6, 2026 at 12:10 PM

... as you can see there director Harry Lighton played Leather Man for our pal James at Queer Review today, so you should click over and check out that interview and those hot-damn buncha photos. Do we have a new hottest movie director? I think we got a contender. Anyway speaking of A24 selling physical media they announced this morning that Marty Supreme will be available on VOD this upcoming Tuesday, when you will also be able to pre-order the blu-ray or 4K disc from their website. Maybe wait til Tuesday to buy the Pillion score and the Marty disc together and save on shipping. There are two of the movies in my Top 10 of 2025! Heck they're in my Top 5. Good shit! Thanks again, A24.

My What Big Ping Pong Balls You Have

Hot off its however-many-Oscar-nominations-it-got this morning comes word from A24 that they're expanding Marty Supreme onto IMAX screens come January 30th! That'd be fun! You can check for tickets at this link. I probably won't go unless it gets extended since this will be right in the thick of Sundance for me next week (I will be covering the virtual side of the fest since I am too poor to go to Utah this year) but you should see it if you can. Just picture Timmy's little ass getting spanked in glorious IMAX y'all! The mind boggles. Here is my review of Marty Supreme -- I remain a surprised-as-anybody fan of the movie, having loathed Safdie's Uncut Gems. All of that blather aside the reason I'm really doing the post is that I love love love that poster seen above that they created specifically for this IMAX release -- it's very mid-80s looking, which makes sense given the movie's New-Wave-banger inflected soundtrack. I want a copy of the poster! Want want want! If they're giving them away in theaters I might have to find /make the time...

Shut Up The Gays Are Talking!

The time has come for the queers to take it away! (When isn't it that time...) The queer critics guild GALECA (of which yours truly is a member) has announced the nominations for our annual Dorian Awards today, and per usual we did good, better, best than most. As ever, because I'm an old crank, I could take issue with some of the people who did get nominated -- I loathe Ethan Hawke's performance in Blue Moon, for instance -- and I could take issue with some of the people who didn't get nominated -- I can't believe we, a group of queer people, didn't have love in our hearts for the best animated movie oif the year by leaps and bounds Boys Go To Jupiter -- but I'll just shut my yap and clap my paws because overall...

... we did very good. A couple of nominations for Pillion! (Even though as I stated earlier today who could be sure which year A24 wants that movie to fall under with their weird release strategy,) A couple of nominations for Hedda, a movie which should be getting much more attention by the big guys -- I can't believe that Tessa Thompson and Nina Hoss probably won't get Oscar nominations whilst steaming crap like the Wicked sequel will. What a world, what a world, indeed. Anyway congrats to all of the nominees (except Ethan Hawke) and if you want to hit the jump I will share our press release with all of the nominations...

The Supreme One

Congratulations to Timmy for his much deserved Globe win last night -- I hadn't realized until after he won that this was his FIFTH nomination and he'd lost every time before, so good on him. I know the Globes have a sordid reputation -- and I don't know how much they've really cleaned up their act given they're now run by the guy who owns all of the industry publications -- but I consider all awards shows on the same level of bullshit so I don't subscribe to the Globes meaning any more or any less than the Oscars. Knowing people who vote for the Globes personally, and knowing people who vote for the Oscars personally, and being a person who votes for the Critics Choice Awards and the GALECA awards, I promise you none of us are being handed personal checks from Kris Jenner lol. I wish! My vote's for sale to the highest bidder! Not that it will do any good -- part of why I know that entire conspiracy theory that pissy fanboys scream out ain't true is because I've watched every vote I've ever voted sink into an abyss of groupthink. It's just the nature of these things. And it's why they're meaningless as arbiters of taste. Just watch the shows for the pretty people in pretty clothes being melodramatic art students for our enjoyment and don't get too worked up. HYPOCRISY ALERT!!! Because I certain;y cannot say that I don't get worked up when my favorites get sidelined...

I have nothing against Ludwig Göransson or his wonderful music for SINNERS (one of the film's true highlights I have no reservations toward) but MY GOD I can't believe it's going to steamroll over Jonny Greenwood. I really convinced myself this was the year they'd pull their heads outta their asses

— Jason Adams (@jamnpp.bsky.social) January 12, 2026 at 10:30 AM

I literally posted that five minutes ago haha. It's just when the "narrative" is there for something good, all the pieces are aligned, and the bait remains untaken that I get frustrated. There's literally no reason for them not to finally throw Jonny a bone this year dammit. He's gotten deservedly nominated so many times now, and not nominated just as many times undeservedly -- he's one of the true geniuses of film scoring this century. And to top that off -- Luwig's already got a damn Oscar! It ain't right. I know the case that's being made -- the idea is everybody feels they have to recognize Sinners somewhere and its music is indeed its stand-out element, so people who feel guilty they're giving PTA his (much-deserved) statues for Directing and maybe Screenwriting and Best Picture are voting for Sinners over in the Score category so it wins something. But at the Oscars Cooglar can win Screenwriting since that's an Original Screenplay, while PTA can get Adapted. Anyway I can't believe I'm rambling about Awards Season so much. This bullshit so ain't my bag. I think I'm still high from Wanda Sykes eviscerating Bill Maher on the Globes last night...

My Wanda came out and owned the show in under five minutes

— Jason Adams (@jamnpp.bsky.social) January 12, 2026 at 10:11 AM

God that was glorious. The thing that made it land so hard was Maher lit up at the start of Wanda's statement -- he really took the bait, and it was DIVINE. A beautiful, beautiful bloodletting. No blowhard's deserved it more! Well okay there are several blowhards who I've prefer watching being eviscerated these days -- yes even above Bill Maher. Bill Maher could walk away scot-free in exchange for the politicians he simps for, but I DIGRESS. I'm not getting into that. No the real reason I even began this post -- and no I don't know how so many wordshave already  tumbled out of my mouth at 10am on a Monday morning, for real -- is this...

... hey remember how I shouted out Timothee Chalamet's win way way way up there at the top of this post? Well for some reason A24 decides a Monday morning was the perfect time to drop the vinyl for Marty Supreme, the movie that won him said award. You can pre-order it on their site -- as much as I do like Lopatin's score and immediately bought this I do wish there was a third record with the film's stellar needledrops. Maybe they'll make like Sinners did and release two releases, one for the score and one for the songs. Oh and I really love the video that A24 produced for the vinyl to showcase what a kick-ass design they did for it, so check that out below.

Putting the Supreme in Marty

Before I scurry away from the computer for a week and a half like it's injecting poison into my fingers with every button push (and really do we even have proof that computers don't do this?) I do have some stuff to share with you! Awww. I'm a peach. But really, it's not nothing -- there are a heap of movies hitting theaters over the holiday and I reviewed a couple! Starting with, you guessed it, the biggie -- click on over to Pajiba to read my thoughts on Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme, starring one Timmy C. I know y'all have soured on him given the comments I get every time I post about him but he's absolutely top-notch in the movie and I'm rooting for him to get that Oscar y'all. The other options are, what -- Leo already has one (although I do think he's better in One Battle After Another than he was in the role he won one for) and if they give Ethan Hawke a statue for his limp-wristed shrieking in that Richard Linklater movie I am so fucking done. Timmy's legit giving the performance of his career to date in Marty Supreme and all this talk of a hype backlash is bullshit. The boy's doing his job, getting eyeballs on his movie! In 2025 Hollywood ya gotta fucking hustle, man. This is a two and a half hour movie about an asshole playing ping-pong ffs. And it rules.

The other review is one that's been around for a bit since I saw it at NYFF, but Jim Jarmusch's wonderful Father Mother Sister Brother is hitting theaters tomorrow and it's one of my favorites from him, so you should go see it. But don't let me here convince you -- let me over at Pajiba convince you where I wrote about the movie in actual depth. Jarmusch is hit-or-miss with me but this is a real hit from where I stand. I tend to like it most when he does funny. I think he and I have very similar senses of humor.

Me & Timmy & Co

As promised nay threatened last evening I scurried off to devour a second helping of Marty Supreme, and as you can see above my dreams came true and Mr. Chalamet himself was there for the Q&A after. They weren't advertising who would be there, they just said "cast" on the invite, but it was pretty much everybody! (Hey Gwyneth.) Even the real life ping-pong player who plays Marty's nemesis. (Although "nemesis" is a strong word because the film never goes the "Ivan Drago" route and demonizes the player sopposite Marty, which is smart -- dude makes enemies every time he opens his mouth and they're much scarier than ping-pong opponents.) Anyway check the pics, watch the vids, enjoy. More to come on Marty later. Eventually. (It's out in 9 days so soon.)

And the Chalamet Goes Wild

And with that I am off to see Marty Supreme a second yes second time -- weirdly after a double-check I realized I never shared here my Bluesky reaction from my first viewing so I'll share that down below. I don't suppose it will surprise any of you who consider me Timmy-pilled but given how hit-n-miss I find the Safdies I think it should. This was by no means a guaranteed response from me. Anyway there will supposedly be "cast" present at this screening I'm headed to now, but they're not telling us who exactly -- so press your ear to your window in a few hours to see if you can hear my fan-girl shrieking and immediately know that I'm in a room with my Timmy without me having to say it. (With my luck it'll just be that asshole from Shark Tank, sigh.) All that said maybe check my Instagram too, as there will be photos. And I will be reviewing this movie before its release at Christmas, so perhaps I can persuade you with "words" not just pictures, as I know Timmy's face drives some of you to madness. Cheers, see ya tomorrow!

Timmys On Parade

Mr. Chalamet has been very kind sharing cute pictures of himself on social media the past several days as we storm towards the Marty Supreme release on Christmas Day (including a couple of ultra adorable ones with his new puppy!) and so I figured I'd round us up a quartet of them for our Timmy-ogling pleasure. My review of MS will be landing closer to its release but as I said on Bluesky when the social embargo broke -- he'd get my vote for Best Actor this year. I know he drives a lot of you nuts with his personal life nonsense et cetera but MNPP is firmly and probably forever ensconsed in the Pro-Timmy camp. The boy is just too fuckin' talented, dammit. Hit the jump for the rest of these photos...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Thelma (2024)

Daniel: I can't ... I can't do anything. I literally
can't do anything. I'm such a little bitch.

Aww, Fred Hechinger! You're my little bitch if that makes you feel any better. A very happy 26th birthday to the White Lotus and Nickel Boys actor -- we were immediately smitten with him when he popped up in the Fear Street movies and it's been nothing but hits since then. (Well okay I wasn't nuts about the prissy gay villain stereotypes that he and Joseph Quinn performed for Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel but I don't really blame the actors for that. That was Sir Ridley's doing.)

As for this year Fred has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it role in Marty Supreme (seriously if I wasn't so nuts about him that I recognized him from the back and blurry I might not have realized it was him at all, that role is so tiny) but if you haven't watched this year's romance Preparation For the Next Life you should seek it out -- you can rent it at all the usual places. It's from Bing Liu, the director of the stellar doc Minding the Gap, and it definitely proves he's got the stuff for a move over to fiction films. It's a lovely little movie and Fred (along with his co-star Sebiye Behtiyar) are both terrific in it. It's a shame it's too small for major awards attention but maybe the Spirits will notice it!

Posted some photos and video of my boy FRED HECHINGER and director Bing Liu at tonight's screening of PREPARATION FOR THE NEXT LIFE at Asia Society over on the Insta www.instagram.com/p/DN7EiUvjpeg/ (The movie is lovely and also a love letter to Fred's shoulder and back hair i.e. a masterpiece)

The Boy Stache Supreme

I know you all hate Timmy now thanks to that admittedly obnoxious comment he made in his Vogue interview about having kids -- and the admittedly continued obnoxious fact that he's associating with that awful family whose name I refuse to even speak here at MNPP -- you made it extremely clear in the comments when I shared the poster for Marty Supreme yesterday. But I'm still not giving up on the boy. Sorry! He's just too talented. You might quibble over that - I know many people think he's never reached the heights of what he did in Call Me By Your Name; hell some of you don't even think he was good in CMBYN. (Although I do hope I've shamed those people sufficiently away by now, because jfc.) I disagree and think he's been terrific several times since then, but whatever -- so goes life, opinions, assholes, et cetera. I'm just here to say I think this movie here very much looks like the bee's knees and I cannot wait to see it. (Thankfully I don't have to wait until Christmas like the rest of y'all since I'm seeing it next week.) Point being -- here's the full trailer! Do enjoy.

Monday, November 10, 2025

Well Hello Marty Supreme

I approve of the slutty new Marty Supreme poster.
Also I guess there's a new trailer tomorrow.
I'm seeing this next week! Huzzah!
