They're Real and Spectacular

It doesn't seem right that this photo of Drew Starkey on the set of Luca Guadagnino's Queer only made itself known to me now, in 2026, two whole years after the movie came out -- actually you know what I just checked and it's been exactly two years and two days since I saw that movie at the NYFF for the first time! (Here is my review.) As I mentioned on Friday that was the 9th anniversary of when I saw Call My By Your Name at the same fest -- it's become a semi-annual tradition then, seeing the new Luca movie at NYFF. Which brings me to yesterday's bitch-fest by yours truly about how I didn't get into NYFF's World Premiere of Luca's latest Artificial -- and yes since that post is still up that is clearly how it ended up playing out. I didn't see the movie last night. But don't worry -- a whole bunch of straight dudes sure did! Everybody clear the way, straight dudes coming through. They'll all be dropping their super primo heterosexual reviews of the movie about a gay man that was directed by a gay man today, so make sure you go read the straight men's very important opinions on such.

Okay so real talk, petty bitching aside -- I did manage to score, all on my own, a ticket to this afternoon's second screening of Artificial. What's new -- gays gotta look out for themselves. If I'd have known there wasn't going to be a press screening, for whatever bizarre reason that decision happened, I would have been online the second tickets went on sale to buy one anyway -- thankfully, in an absolute panic, I managed to eke this shit out on my own at the absolute last minute. I should try to be a little less pissy since I am seeing the movie now -- and there will be a Q&A with Luca himself at this screening, although unlike last night's World Premiere it won't include the entire cast as well as a live performance by the great Damon Albarn, who did the film's score. But I will calm down and situate my brain once I'm sitting there in the theater in a few -- I'm a damn professional (ish) and I won't hold this sordid ordeal against the movie itself. Indeed this is the last you'll hear from me whining about this, I promise -- I can feel the poison leaving my system as I finish this rant. Good to get it out so it doesn't fester! Okay anyway my ultimate point being -- that's where I'm gone to this afternoon! I am going to watch Artificial now, thank goodness. Surely stay tuned for my review to come. Oh and to bring us back to the start, in related Drew Starkey's Beautiful Tits news:

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Noel: So, wait, what are you saying?
All these lines that I...
those crap lines... they actually worked?
Anna: No, they were shit.
Noel: Oh.
Anna: In fact if you'd said nothing
I might have fucked you earlier.

Saying nothing is usually the way to go, I have found.
Anyway a happy 49th birthday to Tom Hardy today!
Figured I'd make some love to his pre-Bronson work...

... and it had nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with this gif.

Good Morning, World

I always find it a bit much when somebody on the internet screams, "Choke me, Daddy!"... even though I have surely done just that myself once or thrice but when haven't I been "a bit much" after all. But when Aaron Pierre  in nothing but underwear started choking out a guard out on this week's latest episode of Lanterns I think we all could be forgiven for having that phrase screaming, shrieking, pounding at the walls of the insides of our heads. Biceps like Aaron's basically make such reactions a prerequisite. Anyway I made gifs -- lots of slowing down, lightening up, and freeze-framing happening because this all goes by far too fast -- so hit the jump to see "Choke Me, Daddy" reach its Final Boss Form......

Buy Me Beautiful

I know that "The eBay Post" has become like a weekly thing here over the past couple of months but that's only because the hoarding situation was becoming untenable and I really needed to unload some stuff, for spatial as well as financial reasons. Nevertheless here I am doing it again. What, am I going to pass up the chance -- since I listed for sale my DVD of Luchino Visconti's first film Ossessione starring Massimo Girotti -- to post a gif of Massimo Girotti in Ossessione? I think not. Check out everything I've listed at this link -- just think, the holidays are coming up! And I have so many beautiful art books for sale right now that the "For Sale" pile is as big as the piles of the stuff I'm actually keeping. I thin the herd, you bring gorgeousness into the life of yourself and/or the people you love. It's a masterpiece I tells ya. (Help meeeee.)

Totally F***ed Up (1993)

Steven: Shit, it's hot!
Andy: Greenhouse effect. Acid rain, nuclear dumping,
no ozone left, the whole planet's a goner.
I give it another five years max.

A very happy birthday to the icon James Duval today!

And Then There Was Jake!

Okay now it's getting ridiculous -- did all of the PR people get together and conspire to make me a harried ball of overwhelm today? First it was Godzilla Minus Zero, then it was Artificial, and now in the span of an hour a third trailer aimed straight at my interests has dropped -- the teaser for M. Night Shyamalan's Remain starring one Jake Gyllenhaal! This is an inexplicable collab between Night and the writer Nicholas Sparks of all people so I have no idea what to expect... well except what this teaser tells us anyway, which a lot. Including...

... Jake apparently being shirtless for half of it??

But this movie isn't out until February so it's the furthest away and, given how much I'm already dealing with pshycologically and emotionally, I'm just setting this one on the back-burner for now. Watch:

Picture Me This

Although I have a love-hate relationship with Zack Snyder's movies I think it's a little less contentious than most -- I loved Dawn of the Dead and 300 unabashedly, and Watchmen and Sucker Punch both have pieces worth defending. If I had to watch hetero-bombast I always preferred his more Kinsey-middle version to Michael Bay's! Anyway it wasn't until he waded into the swamp of making really shitty Superman movies (Henry Cavill's pecs excused) that I became more and more exasperated by him -- yes I have seen "his" cut of Justice League and yes it still sucks. Anyway he seems to've wanted a change as well so we've been keeping track of his next movie The Last Photograph for awhile now -- okay mainly because Snyder has been posting beefcake-y photos of his leading men ...

... Stuart Martin and (out gay!) Fra Fee on social media for awhile, but still. It had me curious! Anyway the movie's got a trailer today and as you can see by these gifs Snyder hasn't lost any of his ability to objectify beautiful men. This is why he and I will probably never be over! Watch:

The Last Photograph is set to premiere at TIFF soon -- in it Martin plays an ex-DEA agent who enlists the aid of a "junkie photographer" (Fee) to find the kidnapped children of a murdered diplomat in South America. I don't know what to make of the politics and exoticist issues on display in this trailer -- let's hope Snyder has delivered something thoughtful and not jingoistic. One can dream! Until then hit the jump for more of his fellas looking hot as sin...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Christine (2016)

George: We all have these different versions
of ourselves competing to be the real us.

This brilliant and disturbing movie, featuring what remains probably still the best work by actor Rebecca Hall, is turning ten in a couple of months -- but that's not why we're here! We're here because it's the birthday of this film's brilliant (and possibly disturbed) director Antonio Campos, of whom I am a big ol' fan. This movie alone would've made that the case but he's also gifted us with the movies Simon Killer and Afterschool as well as the true-crime series The Staircase... I only saw Afterschool recently when Vinegar Syndrome put it out on blu-ray and if you can get past the Ezra Miller of it you'll discover a harrowing little thing that claws at some of the same lurid media-adjacent impulses that both Christine and The Staircase do -- you can see that fascination threading through all of his best work, actually. Hell...

... it's not impossible to believe that the same man who made Christine also directed a whole bunch of The Punisher episodes. As well as the uneven Pentecostal theatrics in The Devil All the Time -- Hary Melling pouring a jar of spiders on himself to delight a bunch of churchgoers fits right in among all of this work. That Campos produced Martha Marcy May Marlene also makes so very much sense, and one supposes that he would have brought the same level of enchantment with humanity's pathologies to the canned Batman spin-off series Arkham, a woulda-been perfect fit. None of his characters are calm in the head, but man can Campos ever laser in on the ineffable sloppiness of our worst instincts. He's not someone I've seen people make a case for as an auteur with the same fascinations bubbling up over and over again, yet it's very much there -- anyway he's a very underrated filmmaker and you seek his all of his work out if you haven't already.

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993)

Robert Campbell: I'm going to say a couple
of words to you and I want you to say the
first thing that comes into your mind.
Creighton Duke: Okay.
Robert Campbell: Jason Voorhees.
Creighton Duke: That makes me think of a little girl
in a pink dress sticking a hot dog through a doughnut.

Happy 33 to Jason Goes To Hell today! Yes indeed arguably the worst Friday the 13th movie is celebrating its "Jesus Year" as of today and it couldn't have happened to a better worse movie. Okay, truth-time: I haven't re-watched this movie in at least a decade. It's so fucking bad y'all. And yet, on the other hand -- it's also got the best male nudity of the entire series thanks to the exquisite Michael Silver. So, you know, two hands in the bush or whatever.

Puck Me

It's kinda crazy I never saw Splitsville, the 2025 romantic comedy, because the only two things I knew about it -- it stars my beloved Dakota Johnson and actor Charlie Gillespie looks like that above and also showcases a truly world-class ass a moment later -- are enough reasons, big enough reasons, hard enough reasons, that would normally get me to watch a movie. But I have not so I can't tell you shit about Gillespie's acting ability, having seen him in nothing but gifs, and that's now a real demerit against me because over the weekend he was cast as one of the new main characters in the second season of Heated Rivalry. Point being I can't even guess if he was cast solely to challenge Connor Storrie in an Ass Off -- he's bringing some stiff competion though, lemme tell you what! (Or show you, as I'm sure you've already glanced at that gif down below.) Anyway also joining the cast is Justice Smith from I Saw the T.V. Glow -- him we know all about, and he's a terrific (and super cute) actor. Hockey hotness overload, y'all!

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

After the Hunt (2025)

Alma: I feel like deep inside I always expected this.
I expected the rottenness in me to be seen by other people
right before I managed to expunge it.
Hank: Spoken like a true woman...
I never felt myself be rotten at all.
Alma: Spoken like a true man.

A happiest of happy birthday to the great and legendary Luca Guadagnino, who is turning 55 today! If you've been on this here site for longer than an hour you know our feelings about Luca, who speaks deep to us in a way that not many other filmmakers do these days -- not just in the obvious one (Call me By Your Name, which I wrote about just a little bit back circa 2017) but everything from his superior Suspiria to Bones and All to yes this one here After the Hunt, a movie which really didn't get a fair shake when it came out. (At least I knew it was good though.) I actually just re-watched it a few weeks ago and it's  shown itself to be even wilier about where the world was headed -- like all his films they're ever so slightly ahead of their time. We'll see what happens with his Sam Altman biopic Artificial soon enough -- I remain convinced he'lll be ten steps ahead of the current conversation -- but for today, let's just show the genius some love! My gift to him & us is this Andy Garfield gif:

Smile My Fangbangers

I never really got into Anne Rice that much -- when the original Interview With the Vampire movie came out in 1994 Teen-Me gave those books a little spin and I remember thinking the gay stuff was hot (which was why I went to read the book in the first place, hearing how skittish Jordan's movie was towards that stuff that actually existed on the page) but other than that it just never became my cuppa. But as stated previously on this here website I'm a big fan of the ongoing T.V. series adaptation starring Jacob Anderson (P.S. more of this photoshoot over here) as our sweet lil' Louis alongside an incomparable Sam Reid devouring the screen and our immortal souls as Lestat.

All of that is to say that some very happy-making news broke this weekend -- the show is getting a fourth season! Huzzah! It will be re-titled once again -- now it will be called Queen of the Damned, meaning one assumes it'll be an adaption of that book, and that only makes sense since we met that character (played by the great Sheila Atim of Dust Bunny fame) this past round of episodes. (And now I am lol'ing remembering that one of you got very angry at me the last time I posted about how the show changing its title to The Vampire Lestat irritated me and how I'd continue calling it Interview With the Vampire anyway -- lol and no further comment.) I vaguely remember seeing the film of Queen of the Damned with the great Aaliyah (RIP queen) when it came out -- weirdly I was just talking about its long disappeared leading man Stuart Townsend last week when my boyfriend asked if Charlize Theron is gay and I pointed to her forgotten marriage to him as proof of... well, she married a dude once. I guess that's all that proved. Right, Louis? He gets it.

Pics of the Day

A brand new genre of photo that I can tell you right now, right here, I will never grow tired of for as long as I live is "Charles Melton on the set of Her Private Hell" -- unfortunately, given the film's microscopic box office take this past weekend, I think I better snatch up and document all the ones I can while they're here, as I doubt we'll be getting many more in the months ahead. I mean I will be talking about this movie... well forever, since I fucking love it (here is my review!). But also at the very least through the end of the year because as 2026 now stands it's my favorite movie so far. And even if a pile of masterpieces drop between now and December this movie will be on my end-of-year list, you can bet your bottom Charles Melton. Anyway at the tail-end of last week several such examples of this, my new favorite genre of photo, appeared, so I dutifully collected them and will now share them after the jump...

Good (Birthday) Morning, World

Well these gifs of a nude James Norton have been a few days coming -- I only got around to this week's episode of House of the Dragon last night though. So even though I knew this scene existed, -- given the filthy pl;aces I congregate regularly on the internet -- I decided to wait until I watched the episode to make my own. And here we are! I might have had more to say about them -- Although what really is there to say? There's hisw bum! Cherish it! -- but I got trapped on an extremely slow subway train this morning and gopt to my desk an hour late, thereby kicking off my birthday -- yes it is today! -- with sweat and annoyance. It's going to be almost 100 here in NYC today -- I hate having a summer birthday so much -- so all around, just a great start. But James Norton's bum is here for me, at least. And I am here for all of you fine people with said gifs of exactly that after the jump...

Make Like Ryan Phillippe And Blow

I'm not going to link to all of the posts I did a decade-plus ago whining about how badly I wanted the rumored Director's Cut of writer-director Mark Christopher's 1998 film about the whole Studio 54 thing titled 54 to happen, and then the news that it was happening circa 2015, and then how it happened -- needless to say my reactions were all very close to what's happening on Ryan Phillippe's face here in these gifs. I was excited! But then I don't know what happened -- a fucking decade happened and here it is 2026 and I never got around to watching the Director's Cut even though I owned the blu-ray of it.

Shiny things! I moved on to the next shiny thing to whine and whinny about. Anyway this realization hit me yesterday when the fine folks at Vinegar Syndrome announced they're releasing a fancy deluxe 4K edition of the out-of-print Director's Cut (also including the original Theatrical Cut) -- you can pre-order that right here as I did, with a firm promise to myself and all you people in the world who frankly couldn't give a shit that I will watch it this time, I swear it. Oh and this post, while informational, is also out of self-interest -- I have now listed my unwatched blu-ray of the Director's Cut of this movie over on eBay for sale, if anybody wants to snatch that up. I actually added a lot onto eBay in the past week or so, so check that out and buy my shit, please. I am drowning in things! Ryan knows how I feel. Right, Ryan?

Give 'Em Hell Refn

As if unloading that slutty milk campaign on us Charles Melton admirers wasn't enough for this sweaty end-of-June Tuesday afternoon, Neon has just now unleashed the first full-length trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's Her Private Hell as well -- and as glimped in the first teaser as well as yesterday's sweaty torso poster it appears to be a real "Imagine Charles Melton in a fetish, any fetish, and voila you got it" fest. Leather, uniforms, you name it Refn is gearing Chuck up for our visual benefits.

I still have no idea what the fuck this movie is about and oh my god I do not care in the slightest -- as with anything Refn has made in the past decade and a half it's all about the vibes and I subscribe to these vibes. A lot of people don't! And I feel bad for them! There are shots in this trailer that made my eyes pop out of my head.

Literally. My eyes are sitting on my desk right now, I am typing this blind. Anyway this movie was not loved at Cannes but that only made me more excited -- his two T.V. series (Too Old To Die Young and Copenhagen Cowboy) were similarly divisive and I loved every second of them. I would put Refn in alongside Robert Eggers and Wes Anderson as filmmakers who've alienated a lot of people by going off the deep ends with their respective styles but I'm so here for it from every single one of them. Art, baby!

Her Private Hell is out on July 24th. And hit the jump
for more Charles Melton gifs if you think you can take it...

How Dare You NWR

It would seem that somebody on the promotional team at Neon realized that sweaty half-naked Charles Melton was getting the most attention in the Her Private Hell teaser trailer that got released -- and yes, I led that parade -- because both the image touting the movie's R-rating and now this the first official teaser poster for the movie have leaned hard into Charles Melton's sweaty half-naked torso. Just as all of us would also like to lean into. Anyway if I can't find a physical copy of this poster to hang on my wall at some point I might have throw myself into the sea so let's they print some of these babies off. Just saying, Neon! Send me one and consider me purchased for eternity. I am cheap as fuck. Oh and in related news:

I think Anya Taylor-Joy speaks for all of us

Good Morning, Werwulf

Even though we got our first official still from Robert Eggers' Werwulf last week I did not expect them to be dropping the trailer this soon -- but they did! It's here! Even though the movie's not out until Christmas. I'm sure we'll get longer clips and teases closer to the release but honestly I am fine with this two minute long smorgasbord of gross images flashing by, up to and including...

... two count them two...

... looks at Aaron Taylor-Johnson starkers mid-transformation. What else do you need? (Apologies that I did not gif Lily-Rose Depp's hairlip even though I know you were shouting "Hairlip, hairlip!") Anyway obviously this is the movie I most want to see that remains in 2026 -- this is always the case when there's a Robert Eggers movie... well unless there's a Luca movie, I guess. But then it depends on subject matter. And Aaron's flexing buttocks do a lot of heavy lifting on they're lonesome. Anyway! It's Monday, I am not awake yet, just watch the trailer and buy your tickets when you can:

Good Morning, World

I haven't watched it yet myself but Julian Schnabel's In the Hand of Dante starring Oscar Isaac apparently dropped onto Netflix yesterday (after premiering at tribeca, where I missed all the screenings unfortunately) -- have you watched it? Nevermind what the movie is actually about -- this is the movie which not just the above shot of Oscar comes from (a sassy underpants strut past bookshelves -- are you kidding me???) but also that insanely ridiculously gratutious set-photo that I shared a couple of weeks ago was from too; clearly Julian agrees with the entire internet that Oscar is meant for ogling. I've actually really been wanting to re-watch Before Night Falls lately so maybe I should do a Schnabel double-feature this weekend -- I haven't seen that movie since it came out and Javier Bardem in that movie... my god. I feel like Julian is trying to tell us something at this point? (And that "something" is he is hot-cha-cha for Hispanic men, which, you know, get in line, buster.)

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Beach Rats (2017)

Simone: Aren't they beautiful?
Frankie: They kind of look the same
as they did last week, and the week before last,
and pretty much the same thing every fucking summer.
Simone: Hater.
Frankie: You know, this exact firework show
happens every Friday at 9:30 p.m.
Simone: I think they're romantic.
Frankie: Fireworks are the opposite of romantic.

I don't pay a heap of attention to Bond casting rumors but I just saw Harris Dickinson's name among the rumored candidates in this article saying that the "next round of auditions" for our next 007 will be happening in August and weirdly I don't think I'd thought of Harris in the role before? And now that I have I think he might be great at it? He'd be different from any Bond before anyway and what other reason is there to keep this shit going if not for that? He's got a reserved quality, an amused intelligence, that would be interesting I think. I'm not saying he'd be my pick -- I'm probably still Team Henry Golding or Dev Patel -- but I wouldn't be angry at Harris being chosen. I mean...

Anyway all that's very much not the reason we're here -- we're here because today is Mr. Dickinson's 30th birthday and we wanna wish him a happy one, where ever he is right now... which is presumably wearing John Lennon drag for Sam Mendes. Going right from John Lennon to James Bond would be quite the story, though! I believe that Harris has got all of that in him. In the parlance of my "The Moment I Fell For..." series of posts I knew the minute I saw him in Beach Rats here that he was destined for big things and he has yet to prove me incorrect.
