Good Morning, Charlie

.
A happy 41st birthday to It's Always Sunny star Charlie Day today. Have you guys been watching Sunny this season? I don't know how they keep it so damn funny after all these many years but there have been episodes this season that are as good as anything they've ever done. The Gang Goes To a Water Park!!! You don't know how often in the past two weeks I have screamed out apropos of nothing, "AIDS blood in the pool! AIDS blood in the pool!" Ahh, funny.

Good Morning, Philadelphia

.
How is it even possible that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been on for fourteen, yes fourteen, seasons? Isn't that insane? That is insane. I am starting to wonder if it could run like Simpsons numbers -- this past year was just as funny as anything they've put out, riffing on these godawful people in new astonishingly cringe-inducing ways. Dennis and Dee and Mac and Dennis and Frank are The Beatles of our age. Anyway a happy 40th birthday to Glenn Howerton today! I never capped this scene from this season's funniest episode - the one where Mac and Dennis move to the suburbs - so hit the jump for all the Dennis butt you can handle (and I don't know about you but I can handle a lot of Dennis butt)...

Good Morning, World

.
A happy 38th birthday to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Mac, aka Rob McElhenney, today. We are all Sunny fans in here right? I saw some mixed reviews of the most recent season but I think that's balls, the show's as funny as ever. I love how hard they're now pushing the fact that everybody knows Mac's gay... except for Mac. Other than that though McElhenney's just a lucky bastard in general because he's in the real world married to Kaitlin Olson (aka Dee) aka one of the funniest ladies working today. They're definitely one of those couples I stalker-fantasize having over for dinner and hanging out with some time.

Hitting It Hard With Fran Kranz

.
The Playlist just shared the trailer for the new movie The Truth About Lies and it's one of those "Hey it's That Person" affairs - hey it's the chick who gets a rod stuck in her in Cloverfield, hey it's The Waitress from It's Always Sunny, hey it's that dude that MNPP just posted pictures of in his underwear the other day, hey it's the dude from Final Destination 5 who should be in lots more things...

... (his name's Miles Fisher and we love him lots, by the way). But the most important presence in the whole thing is, natch, Shirtless Fran Kranz, my old friend Shirtless Fran Kranz.

Indeed Shirtless Fran Kranz is all over the trailer, making it clear that people seem to have realized what an asset Shirtless Fran Kranz is to a movie - a wonderful, wonderful development in the world. One more thing to say, "Thanks, Joss Whedon!" for. Hit the jump for more pictures...

Is This Where The "Rim" Comes In?

.
(click to embiggen) Pretty sure I'd remember seeing a picture of Charlie Hunnam with one hand pushing down on Charlie Day's shoulder and the other one pretty much on his crotch slash undoing his belt, so I think it's safe to say this shot from Pacific Rim is new to me. (via)

So Many Goosebumps

.
I am going to spend the next several hours or so counting up all of my millions of goosebumps and naming each and every one of them Guillermo Del Toro Jr. after watching the beyond bad-assery on display in this here new trailer for Pacific Rim. Good lord, what does he have in store for us? Good lord! IMAX might not be good enough for this - I need like IMAX squared.

Good Morning, World

.
Happy 33 to Mike Vogel, here's some leftover pics of him on the swiftly abandoned stewardess show Pan Am. Next stop, a TV show from the makers of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, hopefully this will be the one that sticks. We'd like Mike Vogel to stick.

Mike Vogel Two Times

.

A couple of recent-ish pics of the criminally under-employed actor, last seen running by the screen and waving in The Help and What's Your Number. He's apparently set to star in a show for Fox from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob "Mac" McElhenney called Living Loaded, based on a book by Dan Dunn, about and I quote "a hard-partying blogger forced to change his career plans when he becomes a radio host." McElhenney appears to be a co-star, as is... Donald Sutherland? Okay. We know Vogel's funny while never getting the chance to show it off that much, and we love It's Always Sunny, so we're in. As long as he also shows off why we fell for him in the first place...

Good Morning, World

Why do I find it so obvious, so "Of course they do!", to read that Charlie Day and Joe Pesci share a birthday? Of course they do! Ya know? Shouty little angry people unite! Anyway that day is today so a happy birthday to both of them wise guys but specifically to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Charlie Day, seen in his little man briefs enjoying his Cocoa Puffs and Hitler hat above. Love you, Charlie!

Strangely just yesterday I was reading what Mr. Day had to say about my other favorite Charlie, Charlie Hunnam, who's his co-star in Guillermo Del Toro's giant monster movie Pacific Rim (along with the just-posted-on Idris Elba). Here's Charlie on Charlie:

"I've never seen Sons of Anarchy. Charlie Hunnam? Has he done anything? I've seen Green Street Hooligans. I love that movie...(But) I think if I walked into a bar in Rhode Island with him, no one would know who he is. I haven't seen Charlie Hunnam do very much."

Oh that incorrigible lil' rascal. (I hope they make out.) I should note here since I made a spectacle of the name Idris Elba character's name has in Pacific Rim (Stacker Penecost!), that Charlie Day's character's name in Pacific Rim is "Newt Gotlieb." And now that I'm looking, Charlie Hunnam's name is "Raleigh Antrobus"!!! Newt Gotlieb and Raleigh Antrobus and Stacker Penecost, just hanging out, chillin', fighting some giant monsters, no big whoop. Good lord. I mean... somebody had some fun coming up with these character's names.

Random Mac

I popped in Curtis Hanson's masterpiece Wonder Boys into the DVD player the other night, as I am prone to do every few months - if I were going to make a list of my favorite films of all-time, this movie would have a lofty place on it; it wraps me up all warm-like and makes me feel wonderful like few others - but this time I noticed something I never had before. Namely, Mac!

Rob McElhenney from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, that is. Right there beside Katie (oh Katie, why have you done this to yourself?), momentarily looking right into the camera like a rank amateur. Come on, Rob, this was your third movie - I mean, you'd just finished up playing "Teenager On Property" in the thrill-less John Travolta legal-thriller A Civil Action (wow, nobody remembered that existed, did they?). You're a professional now. Behave.

If Only He Were The Star

.

First things first - every time I read the title of the movie In Time I get Hall & Oates' "Out of Touch" stuck in my head. Good luck getting that song out of your head now.

That out of the way, after that the next thing I think of when I think of In Time is how much I'd want to see it if only it starred Matthew Bomer. Casting fail! Oh well. It apparently sucks anyway. But would it have sucked if Matty had been the star instead of Justin Timberlake? It's a case of the chicken or the egg, where the chicken is a dancing hillbilly ham and the egg is a semi-closeted TV pretty-boy. I don't think that logic quite adds up there but that's never stopped me before. Oh ho, no.

So In Time is out today, as are several other movies, all of them looking less and less appealing to me than the one before. Puss In Boots? More like Poop In Poop am I right or am I right? Sigh. It's been a long week. Also you get bonus points if you read that sentence in Kaitlin Olsen's manic Dee Reynolds' voice because that's what it sounded like in my head.

Point being, movies! Out today, it being a Friday. And I wrote up my thoughts on them at Celebrity Beehive. Hear what similarly strange ramblings I have for Roland Emmerich's Anonymous and Johnny Depp's The Rum Diary, amongst others! Here's a hint: they can all go fuck themselves, the end!

Half a frame away from a hand-job...

Fuzzy Sudeikis Tummy

.

The trailer for A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy is online, as seen at Slash, and we get to see Jason Sudekis shirtless a couple of times, as seen right here.

We also see a couple of other dudes undressed, like Martin Starr (I love you, Martin Starr!) and I don't know who this person is on the left but I capped him anyway.

Anybody know who he is? He looks A LOT like this guy I knew when I was in college but somehow I doubt it's him. AGOFO is out on September 2nd, making this A Very Sudekis Year.

Speaking of I saw Horrible Bosses over the weekend and... eh, it was alright? I thought Jennifer Aniston was pretty amusing letting loose even if her face is anything but loose - she's starting to get awfully waxen, amirite? And Charlie Day did nothing to divert my under-the-radar love affair with Charlie Day - can you tell me anyone else who could ring so much funny from an extended screech of rape? It was all awfully routine though, and the last ten minutes or so were embarrassingly bad.

And The Emmy For...

... Kaitlin Olson for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
She's got at least be nominated for that prize, doesn't she?

Okay okay that wasn't even on the show this season. But that time she was replaced with an ostrich was! That was awesome. Mainly though I just wanted to post that gif again because it makes me pee my pants with pee-scented laughter, and I thought of it because of Gawker's Wish List for Impossible Emmy nominations, which includes her. Also Chris Pratt! And Maisie Williams! I concur. I concur hard.

Quote of the Day

.
Know hope! Maybe when Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim (starring Idris Elba and Charlies Hunnum and Day) comes out on July 12, 2013 and is a box office sensation, knock on wood, we'll see GDT swivel over to make his greatly-desired-by-me HP Lovecraft adaptation still. Via an interview at the LAT:

"I’m not giving up... ‘Mountains of Madness’ has been with me for 13, 14 years and I really don’t want to give up on it. Look, the movies I do, I stick with them when I think, well, if I don’t do it, nobody will. … ‘Hellboy,’ if I hadn’t done it, I don’t think anyone would have. ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ same thing. ‘Mountains of Madness,’ the way I plan to do it is a very peculiar take, and I think if I don’t stick with it the version I would like to see would never get made.

... I’m going to keep pursuing it. Universal is still really interested in doing it. Coming out of ‘Pacific Rim,’ I intend to see if we can do it immediately."

And hey we can keep our fingers crossed, there's a good chance that one-time-mentioned star Tom Cruise will have completely evaporated as a possibility by 2013, right? Please tell me that's right. He's got a lot of his own ass to disappear up still. A lot.

We Only Hire Charlies

.

I had every intention of creating a picture for this post that had both Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day in it, since Charlie Day just got a gig in Guillermo Del Toro's next movie Pacific Rim, which already has Hunnam in the lead, and going on to make a joke about them both having the same first name, hardy har, so clever.

But then I stumbled upon the above picture of Charlie Hunnam which I've somehow never seen before and I started to add Charlie Day into it but sorry Charlie (Day), as adorable as you be you were distracting me from all of that, and that is not to be distracted from. Goodness.

Happy 32, Gael

.

I love that picture and can't believe I'd not posted it before. What's not to love? Gael in a sexually suggestive pose on a bare mattress thrusting a knife at crotch-level with a hint of his underpants showing? It's like last week's episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where the gang took stuff out of Charlie's dream journal and made them come to life, only these are the things inside my dream journal come to life, and there's no Worm Hat. If there were a Worm Hat it'd be perfect, yeah.
