I've been doing this for so long I may have posted that photo of Tyler Hoechlin before and totally forgotten I did, but when I saw it the other day I could've sworn that shot was new to me... just got a flash of what this site will be like as I drip into senility... the same five Jake Gyllenhaal photos posted over and over. (As if that's different from now.) Good morning!
Before you ask no, I sadly don't have the full video -- this is Brandon Routh & Tyler Hoechlin in costume as their respective versions of Superman and fooling around on the set of the Crisis on Infinite Earths series that was a part of the CW's so-called Arrowverse in 2019, but all I have are the gifs (via). The gifs give me what I need! I doubt putting any of this into a broader context would help -- it's better to let my own ideas flood in. And speaking of flooded...
Had a realization yesterday I hadn't heard anything about our beloved Dom lately (not since the last season of Preacher ended and since we averted our eyes from the Mamma Mia sequel) so I went looking, and looking, and looking, and before you knew it I had a good forty pictures laying here from a few very fine new photo-shoots that'd somehow slipped by me.
Not to mention also some actual employment news (keep in mind this is from November) -- he's making another non-Preacher TV show (before Preacherfilms its fourth season this year anyway) and it sounds promising. It's called Peacock, and it has him playing a "physical training instructor in a mid-market gym." So uhh yeah, Dom as a trainer, in a gym a lot. Like I said. promising! And to top it off (heh) it's going to co-star this dude: .

Promising, promising, more promising by the second! We'll see what comes of that -- it supposedly shot its pilot in the fall when it was announced and I couldn't find anything new, so maybe it won't even properly happen. Well IMDb has dropped a bunch of pictures from the movie and it being Tyler Hoechlin's birthday today and all it seemed like a nice gesture, sharing the shot up top and all. I don't really recommend heading over to watch the trailer for this movie called Melvin Smarty that Tyler Hoechlin made that's been sitting in a dust-bin for six years because it's two plus minutes of your life that you'll never get back that you're gonna want back, believe me, I want mine back, but these pictures of Tyler in the movie are worth a glance, no? Good morning, everyone! I'm currently a little confounded that a quick search here on the site turns up nada zilch zippo on Bigger, the forthcoming bio-pic of the Weider brothers, the so-called "grandfathers of the fitness craze." I didn't even mention it this past Tuesday when I did the big gratuitous Aneurin Barnard post and he plays one of the brothers! I am terrible, Muriel. The other brother is played by Tyler Hoechlin, seen above in the movie's first official picture (good choice) with Julianne Hough, who's playing his wife. Also in the cast: Steve Guttenberg, who I think is playing their father, and Colton Haynes, who's playing fitness legend Jack Lalanne. One reason why I'm so surprised...
... I haven't posted anything before is I knew I had this batch of pictures of Tyler in a speedo on the set ages ago and how in the ever-loving heck did I never end up posting them? What the hell, me? Oh well we're making up for it today, hit the jump for a couple dozen such speedo-clad things...
For a movie I didn't like at all I sure do let a lot of Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk into my life - what can I say, it was stuffed with beautiful twinks, and I have content to create. (See our post on Billy Howle here, and see our post on Freddie Fox here, and see our post on Jack Lowden here, some Fionn Whitehead over here, and see some Barry Keoghan on the Tumblr here...) Point being the only award that Dunkirk really deserved was one for its casting director, but I suppose auditioning all these beautiful twinks was its own sort of award.
Today it's the turn of Welsh Dunkirk Twink named Aneurin Barnard, who's celebrating his 31st birthday. Can twinks be 31? I don't know. It's somebody else's business to wrangle with those silly homo-linguistic rule games - I'm just here to stare at the pretty young man.
Barnard has done a lot of work already - he was in the horror movie called Citadel in 2012 (I also didn't like that, whoops) and he played a skinny-dipping King Richard on The White Queen (you'll see some nice gifs of that down below). And he's got a lot of work lined up too - he's in John Crowley's follow-up to Brooklyn called The Goldfinch (sidenote: the young version of him in the film's being played by Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard which is actually really great casting don't you think?) with Ansel Elgort...
... and Nicole Kidman; that's out later this year. And he's part of the great big cast for Armando Iannucci's forthcoming take on David Copperfield, along the likes of Tilda Swinton and Ben Whishaw. If I started documenting every second of Tyler Hoechlin's Wicked Good Staching Sorcery in Richard Linklater's 2016 film Everybody Wants Some!! we would be here all day... and that would be a fucking awesome day. But I don't have all day, and besides...

ETA Okay so what I was working on was trying to figure out why MNPP's Tumblr has vanished (actually my entire Tumblr account has been "terminated" with no notice) but until they let me know what happened we're just not going to worry too much about it - we've started another Tumblr right here, although it's empty as of right now, but perhaps you should update your bookmarks.
I'm less upset about losing the MNPP Tumblr (which was always just a backup to the blog you're reading right here) than I am about losing a personal Tumblr account that I had where I posted paintings I loved - I didn't have any back up of that stuff and a lot of my favorite art was collected there in one place. Oh well.

Every time I post about Stratton I have to go back through all the past posts I have done on this movie and I see the one titled "Henry Cavill Pulls Out" and I just start giggling again - it's good that I am at least amused by my nonsense; that much gets me through. Anyway that there is a brand new picture of Dominic Cooper and Tyler Hoechlin in Stratton, in case you didn't get that by now. (via, thx Mac) I will refrain from asking you who wore that costume better between the two because I did that to Dom the last time we got a picture of the two of them in a similar but different outfit from this same movie and it didn't go all that well for Dom that time around, poor dear, and I think that this time it's an even more flattering picture of Tyler. (Those biceps.) Anyway Stratton is out on some time this year.
--- God of Buzz - Mark Ruffalo's been posting some shots on Instagram from the set of the third Thor movie, currently filming, and because Chris Hemsworth has got short hair in the make-up trailer now everybody thinks that Thor might maybe get a haircut! I'd be fine with that, I think Chris is much better-looking with shorter hair, but that's not really what straight-dude comic-nerds are worried about, at least not anywhere save their subconscious. Anyway these pictures could just be Chris before he puts his wig on, so this could be nothing. Nothing!
--- The Devil I Do - I am surprised to see that the Polish demonic possession wedding comedy called Demon, which I saw at MoMA earlier this year as part of their "New Directors New Films" series and which I dug quite a bit, is even getting a release, it's very strange. But a release it is, at least of the limited sort before hitting VOD, and you should most definitely seek it out. The date is September 9th. There is a trailer for it which you can watch right here, although it might be better to go in to this bizarre movie blind.
--- Prison Break - Have any of you seen the Steve McQueen movie Papillon? I have not but it's about to get remade with Charlie Hunnam (who we were just talking about) (okay we're always "just" talking about Charlie, you got us) in the McQueen role and Rami Malek in the Dustin Hoffman role, so I just wondering if I should bother, or wait for this one. Okay, nevermind, looking up pictures of Steve McQueen in prison just now I have convinced myself - I should totally bother.
--- Island Living - Ira Sachs, whose very good new film Little Men is out this weekend and which I will review tomorrow, is setting up a TV project that sounds pretty fantastic - it's called Christodora and it's based on a recent novel by Tim Murphy (anybody read it?) which sounds perfectly tailored to his strengths. It's about the interconnected lives of a bunch of people who live in one East Village building over the course of several decades. Maybe it'll be a New York Tales of the City? Oh and Cary Fukunaga is producing it.
--- Action Beats - I think you guys know how deep and hard and long (ahem) my love for Dominic Cooper runs, so I think I can be forgiven here in advance saying that the trailer for his upcoming military-action-thriller called Stratton, which you can watch right here, is a total snooze-fest. I watched the entire thing hoping that it'd at least give me a glimpse of Dominic Cooper & Tyler Hoechlin (or Thomas Kretschmann!) making out, or something, anything, but no, just noise and fury and shaky-cam cliches, blurgh. This is the movie that Henry Cavill dropped out of at the last minute and I am shocked, shocked, to think Henry might've been onto something.
--- The Final Frontier - I haven't been keeping up with this because lord knows once Ryan Murphy starts yapping he'll never stop and we'll know everything from the plot to the size of Matt Bomer's underpants before he's through, but I guess TMZ got some pictures from the set of the sixth season of American Horror Story and blah blah spoilers click over if you don't care. I will say that I think it's a good idea if it's where they are going, and it's not at all what I was expecting either.
--- And Finally we have a date and we have a teaser trailer for Christopher Guest's new film Mascots! The film, which gives sports mascots the Best in Show treatment, will hit Netflix on October 13th; it stars the usual troupe of Guest regulars - you got your Bob Balaban in my Parker Posey! - with some new faces like the terrific Chris O' Dowd (Am I the only person who like Family Tree?), but the teaser doesn't show anybody just yet... . .
This shot from behind the scenes of Richard Linklater's film Everybody Wants Some (via) just proves that the most exciting thing about Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some was and remains extracurricular - I might not have enjoyed the experience of actually watching the final product, but I wouldn't pass up it existing just for stuff like this.

--- Red Beard - It's a great week for ginger beard
lovers (every week is a good week for ginger beard lovers because ginger
beards are worth loving) because not only did (Game of Thrones spoiler!) Tormund make it out of the "Battle of the Bastards" in mostly one piece, but the furry beauty who plays him, Kristofer Hivju, has just been cast in the Justice League
movie! I mean I kind of don't give a shit about the Justice League
movie after the Batman v Superman disaster, but the fact that Kristofer has been cast as a F.O.A. (Friend of Aquaman) gives me hope him and his beard will be wet and sexy a bunch. In related news here's a terrific interview with Hivju on the subject of Thrones and his eye-fluttering one-sided romance with Brienne.
--- Lynch Mobbed - Did you guys hear about David Lynch's music festival? It's not just music, although the presence of St Vincent alone is manna enough, but all kinds of entertainment - I mean, Laura Dern will be giving a talk! Where else in the world is Laura Dern giving a talk a featured event? Besides my living-room every night where I pretend the pillow on my couch is Laura Dern aka my bestie forever, that is.
--- Mannequin Romance - While I'm incredibly frustrated with myself that I didn't personally participate in this week's edition of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" over at The Film Experience, which tackled Rainer Werner Fassbinder's magnificent 1972 film The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (one of my favorite films of all time yo) I am pretty pleased with the gift of several pieces documenting the beauty of the film, so a big bewigged thanks to Nathaniel & Co. for hitting up the movie.
--- Goddamn Grace - We knew back in May that Sarah Polley was planning on making her adaptation of Margaret Atwood's book Alias Grace this year (and before that we knew four years ago she was working on the project) but the project has just somehow gotten even awesomer, because American Psycho director Mary Harron has just signed on to direct the whole damn thing! Netflix has the rights to the series, which will be six hours. Now we just have to wait and see what awesome woman they get to star. Do we think Polley might play the lead herself?
--- Spider Beasts - Abraham Attah was so good in Cary Fukunaga's Beasts of No Nation so reading today that he's gotten a gig in the new Spider-man movie is welcome news. No word on who he's playing but my guess is he's a classmate of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, given their age similarity. There are a refreshing number of people of color in the film's cast now - I mean, it is a high school in Queens we're talking about here, it only makes sense! Oh and if you wanna see Holland on set JJ has some pictures. He looks so young, you guys, I gotta try to curb the dirty thoughts this time around. No Spider-bum for us!
--- Giant Read - I've been shit about keeping up with news on Steven Spielberg's film The BFG, which is nonsensical given its one of my favorite directors (shut up, haters) tackling one of my favorite books from my childhood. Anyway the movie's out a week from Friday and there's a really very substantial interview with Spielberg on the film over at Wired that you should read if you give a shit.
--- And Finally earlier I told you, expressed through the gyrations of Ryan Guzman's jockstrap more than in actual words, that Richard Linklater's flick Everybody Wants Some has finally arrived online for your viewing pleasure - well EW has even more for us in the form of a deleted scene that's just chock-full of Tyler Hoechlin in tighty-whities action. Gayest Movie Ever.
--- Super Wolf - Now that he's been cast it totally makes sense that Tyler Hoechlin is playing Superman on The CW's Supergirl series (thanks Mac) - I don't know why his name didn't occur to me when the word was going around that the show was looking to cast the role in the first place. Supergirl is run by Greg Berlanti, the openly gay dude behind basically all of the DC superhero shows on the small screen, and it's clear he learned some vital lessons from watching the Teen Wolf series which co-starred Hoechlin. Anyway Tyler is sure gonna fill out that suit nicely!
--- Drinking Buddies - Orlando Director Sally Potter is about to start filming a new movie, which is cause enough to celebrate, but wait til you get a load of her cast - Kristin Scott Thomas, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer, Cillian Murphy, Timothy Spall, Bruno Ganz, and Cherry Jones! That is a mad good buncha actors, people. The film is called The Party and much like the Peter Sellers movie of the same title is is set at a party. Imagine that.
--- Gods in the House - The first two pictures from American Gods have arrived! See them over at EW. The adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book, which we've already talked about a billion times, is being shepherded onto the small screen by no less than Hannibal and Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller himself, so we expect greatness. In the picture you can see Ricky Whittle (dear lord look at Ricky Whittle) as Shadow Moon and Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney the leprechaun; at the link you can see a couple of shots of Ian McShane in character too.
Oh and in the past couple of days there's been several roles cast, all men of color - the gorgeous Omid Abtahi (I've had a crush on him for ages) is playing Salim, while Orlando Jones and Demore Barnes have been cast as Mr Nancy and Mr Ibis, respectively. And here below is a picture of Omid, who you'll probably recognize from one of the thousand times he's been asked to play a terrorist (like Homeland or 24, for example):
--- The Ol' OakTree - The first poster for A Monster Calls, one of my most anticipated movies of the year, has arrived - get a look at it over at STYD. This movie is based on the heartbreaking and beautiful children's book by Patrick Ness, which I highly highly recommend. The film stars Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, and the rich deep baritone of Liam Neeson as a tree. Watch the trailer over here if you missed it.
--- Brain Drain - I haven't gotten a chance to read this one yet but The New York Times spoke with Charlie Cox about his currently-running play Incognito (oh I am sure they got a Daredevil question or two in there, if they know what's good for them) - you can read it over here. (Thanks Mac) There is a picture of him attached, to make the words go down smoother. I saw this play a couple of months ago and didn't love it, to be honest, but Charlie (everybody) was good.
--- Number Twos - I was going to just post this brief update (or rather non-update) from Winona Ryder about how she has no idea what's happening with Tim Burton and the Beetlejuice sequel right now (thanks Mac) but then I read this article at THR today talking about how Hollywood's current big problem is "Sequels That Nobody Wants" and I found that to be much more interesting a thing to share. And if that's the mindset that might put the brakes on a Beetlejuice 2 happening, honestly. Especially with the Burton connection, what with the Alice in Wonderland sequel being the reigning King of the Flops and all. Happy Childhood Memories be damned, I'd probably be willing to give up a Beetlejuice cash-grab if Hollywood promised to stop shitting out sequels. (HA.) .

Does everybody remember the article at Vulture several weeks back when Richard Linklater's film Everybody Wants Some!! came out that called the film "accidentally gay" and talked about the homo-swoon that hit the room when Tyler Hoechlin laid back on a couch in a half-shirt? Yeah there that is and I feel that swoon, pink and glittery and dripping with stinky testosterone, a'comin.
I'm not sure where this Tumblr's (thx Mac) gotten all these shots, if the film's leaked online or what, but I still haven't seen the movie much to my dismay. Clearly I've let you all down. Anyway Linklater finally addressed the "accidentally" pat of "accidentally gay" in an even more recent interview, you can read that here. He says he totes knew what he was doing, and looking at these shots I'm prone to believe him! Hit the jump for some more, cuz I mean...
