Callum Turner Twelve Times

I've been a Callum Turner ogler for several years going -- I was particularly fond of his slutty blond phase (thanks, George Clooney). But reading about the "conservative creep", ideologically-speaking, that's supposedly (I didn't see it) on display in this past weekend's sex-purge rom-com One Night Only alongside his really annoying no-homo-ish quote about how disgusting guys are for wearing spandex at the gym (oh no, penises, the horror) well he has my crush living on the edge. My Spidey-sense is sensing a strong suspicion he's overtime positioning himself as the number-one most hetero-manliest of double-oh Bond options on the table, basically. And it's almost started to feel disingenuous to the point of craven.

Judging by the reviews written by people I trust this movie is hot trash but then I see these photos of Callum Turner and I just don’t know WHAT to think

His constant vacationing with his gorgeous famous wife getting pap-snapped every other day feeds into this; as do his boring fashion choices on red carpets. But am I reading too much into things? Honestly every second I spend thinking about this is one second I'm not thinking about the world being on literal fire, so have some sympathy if I am being totally deranged. I still like to look at him! (Even more if he went blond again.) I just hope he tones this all down once the Bond pick lands, either way. Daniel Craig never ran away from his immense bisexual energy dammit -- he ran straight (heh) into it! And we must not go back in time on absolutely everything! Anyway hit the jump to stare some more at his goofy attractive face if you're into it, and I won't judge (for now)...

Pics of the Day

Rose of Nevada is the new "horror" film from Enys Men director Mark Jenkin -- if you've seen Enys Men then you probably understand why I put "horror" in quotes; it's because his movies are more surreal and uncanny than they are straight-up horror. They want to destabilize you in a way that's starting to feel wholly unique to Jenkin, two movies in -- I am a fan of them both, having seen Rose at NYFF last fall, and not just because this new one stars Callum Turner and George MacKay as ship-mates who look like they look in the photos seen here (via) from the set. The movie is hitting the UK on April 24th -- it comes out here in the U.S. in June so I'll try to say more then. Until then just spend some time today imagining being these boys' bunk-mate -- it's absolutely what I'm doing!

George MacKay Eight Times

I think I'd convinced myself that I was only attracted to George MacKay with short hair because he's had short hair for all the recent films he's been in where he won me over -- see The Beast, Femme (especially Femme), True History of the Kelly Gang, on and on. But now I'm looking at these new luxuriously-coiffed photos of George for Esquire UK and I'm realizing -- gee golly he's got some pretty hair doesn't he? What a man, what a mane! Anyway he's got two very good movies coming out this year, both of which I've seen but neither of which I've reviewed -- there's Rose of Nevada (with Callum Turner!) and Broken English (with Tilda Swinton!) and I recommend seeking both out when the time comes. Until then, seek of these fresh-locked photos of George right after the jump...

Make Us Warm on a Cold Day, Callum Turner

Possibly my favorite of the current Bond-rumor-hunks Callum Turner (apologies to Aaron Taylor-Johnson but have you seen Callum's ears? Well have you?) hit the beach with his bride-to-be Dua Lipa this past weekend in Mexico, and somehow photographers managed to find them and take photographs of them (via) whilst they were being sexy and loving on their vacation! Scandal! Intrusion! However did this happen? Alert the police! Get me Scotland Yard stat! Okay okay I wrung that bit dry -- so let's get ourselves wet again with some more of these photos after the jump...

Callum Turner Two Times

Shame on me for missing these photos of the dreamboat Callum Turner in Vanity Fair a couple of weeks back -- in my defense I thought that everything I'd been seeing in that issue, which included a slew of current H'wood heartthrobs, looked like shit. Just terrible photography all around. These Callum shots must've dropped after I'd already given up on the issue -- my bad. Anyway what do y'all think about the Janes Bond rumors that have attached themselves to Callum? ("Attached themselves to" most likely meaning "his people have floated the rumor everywhere they can.") Since I didn't watch any 007 movies until Daniel Craig was hired (and then I went back and watched a couple of the older ones after that) I can't say I have a huge attachment to the franchise or the character -- I'd rather see five more Atomic Blonde movies, personally. But I'm also of the mind that Callum is hot as fuck so sure, give him a franchise where he can play the sexy hero in nice clothes and perhaps a blue speedo. I cannot find holes in that logic. (I wouldn't be angry if they gave him that slutty blond hair he had in George Clooney's Boys in the Boat movie either.)

Good Morning, World

Yup. It's Monday. Don't know I feel about that. While I go figure that out -- although if I were to shake my Magic 8 ball (not a euhphemism) I'd wager all signs would point to "Fuck this Monday shit" -- here's one thing I am certain of: actor Callum Turner looking all breakfasty delicious as hell in yesterday's spread for The Times. At least that's something! Hit the jump for the photos...

Our Boyfriend Callum Turner

If I was dating Callum Turner I would also post half-naked photos of my boyfriend Callum Turner (I just like the sound of that --- "my boyfriend Callum Turner") -- on social media all of the time, so props to singer Dua Lipa for doing a lot of just that. And because she shared four photos of Callum beefcakery this week she reminded me that we got some (ahem somewhat revealing) photos of them lounging around the water several weeks ago that I never posted -- thank you for the reminder, girlfriend of my boyfriend Callum Turner! And because this afternoon could use the hotness I'll share those along with the rest of these new shots after the jump...

NYFF Make My Dreams Come True

Just a couple of weeks ago I shared the poster and a teaser trailer for Park Chan-wook's new movie No Other Choice starring his ol' pal Byung-hun Lee and I said therein, and I quote, "This movie's premiering at Venice  and I am keeping all of my assorted limbs knotted up in hope that it'll head to NYFF from there." Well unknot me cuz it came true! NYFF just announced their Main Slate this morning for their 2025 edition and Master Park's movie is up in its business -- as are several other movies I am champing at me bit to gnaw right into. So why not a list? Not counting the Opening Night film (which is Luca Guadagnino's After the Hunt and so obviously my jam) here are the 10 movies out of the Main Slate that I'm the most anticipating...

My 10 Most Anitipcated NYFF63 Main Slate Movies

No Other Choice -- dir. Park Chan-wook

There's really nothing I can shriek in enthusiasm about this movie that I haven't been shrieking since it was announced. Park Chan-wook is a god, period, the end.

Jay Kelly -- dir. Noah Baumbach

Normally I try to steer clear of George Clooney vehicles but I tend to love Baumbach movies whatever he throws at me and most importantly he got his gal pal Greta Gerwig acting again. Gerwig seals the deal every time. Plus Patrick WIlson, Laura Dern, Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Emily Mortimer, Billy Crudup and Isla Fisher! Also Emily Mortimer co-wrote this!

The Mastermind -- dir. Kelly Reichardt

Not only is it the never-steers-me-wrong Reichardt behind the camera and not only does the movie star Josh O'Connor but the movie stars Josh o'Connor looking like the raffish lit professor everybody, including the other teachers and parents, are all trying to fuck.

The Secret Agent
-- dir. Kleber Mendonça Filho

Wagner Moura is one of the greatest (and come on, look at the picture, sexiest) on the world stage right now, and his teaming up withthe genius behind Bacurau is white hot shit. Plus Moura won Best Actor at Cannes and Mendonça Filho won Best Director so hopes are obviously big.

Sentimental Value
-- dir. Joachim Trier

And speaking of Cannes this follow-up from the director and star of the masterpiece The Worst Person in the World won the Grand Prix at that fest. I will follow these two anywhere, together or seperately, but together tastes best!

Peter Hujar's Day
-- dir. Ira Sachs

It's Ben fucking Whishaw playing Peter fucking Hujar -- you think I'm not all over this? Anyway I was extremely annoyed I couldn't see it at Sundance so I'm happy to have been given this second shot, even if I wasted months -- months!!! -- of my life without it. I won't hold it against you, Ben!

Miroirs No. 3
-- Christian Petzold

Since 2012 Christian Petzold has made five straight up masterpieces in a row with Barbara, Phoenix, Transit, Undine, and Afire -- I'm hoping he hasn't broken that streak by daring to make a movie with a title that has more than a single word in it, but I think we might be in safe hands. I mean he's reunited with actress Paula Beer yet again. We're gonna be fine.

The Fence
-- dir. Claire Denis

I tend to swing wildly on my opinion of Denis movies, but the main thrust seems to be I like her more recent work while her earlier, typically more lauded works have left me cold. I'm such a maverick! Anyway Denis regular Isaach De Bankolé is her leading man this time, which is always a good sign, but this also co-stars Matt Dillon and Tom Blyth? Mkay.

Rose of Nevada
-- dir. Mark Jenkin

Yeah yeah okay it stars Callum Turner and George MacKay
as fisherman, obviously it was gonna make my list.
That's literally all I know or need to know. Fish me good, fellas!

Landmarks
-- dir. Lucrecia Martel

Since The Headless Woman in 2008
I've been a Lucretia ride-or-die-for-lifer.
Not even reading what this is about. Sign me up.

--------------------------------------

Runners-up:  It Was Just an Accident (dir. Jafar Panahi), A House of Dynamite (dir. Kathryn Bigelow), Resurrection (dir. Bi Gan), Romería (dir. Carla Simón), Kontinental ’25 (dir. Radu Jude), If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (dir. Mary Bronstein), Duse (dir. Pietro Marcello)

Just a footnote on the concept of "Runners-up" here -- I literally could have listed every single other movie that didn't make my top ten. The only reason there are runners-up at all is I limited myself to a list of ten. As happens with every NYFF there are titles that come out of nowhere to slam me onto the floor in the best of way, and sometimes the ones I'm most excited about don't totally land. Usually though I always leave NYFF happy, because as I've said before they might not get all of the big exciting world premieres but year after year they do an incredible job curating the movies from around the globe that are the most worth seeing. I love my hometown fest! Click here to buy passes -- general tickets go on sale on September 18th (and earlier for FLC members). The fest runs from September 26 through October 13, 2025.

Pic of the Day

I don't know how this mo0vie escapes my eyeballs until now -- perhaps it's the fact that this movie isn't even listed on the director Mark Jenkin's IMDb page yet -- but there is apparently a movie called Rose of Nevada being made that co-stars George Mackay and Callum Turner! Two of my most favorite white boys of the moment, smooshing themselves like chocolate and peanut butter deliciousness -- I can hardly wait. The movie, according to The Film Stage where I found this photo, is called Rose of Nevada and it's a time-travel thriller -- if you've seen either of Jenkin's previous films Bait of Enys' Men then you know that prospect is hardly a simple one in his wildly weird hands. Here is their plot description:

"“In a forgotten fishing village, a boat mysteriously appears in the old harbour. The Rose of Nevada, lost at sea with all hands 30 years ago, has returned. For the few who remember, it’s a sign. The Rose of Nevada must go out to sea again, maybe then the luck of the devastated village will turn. Nick (MacKay) takes a job aboard the boat in an attempt to provide for his young family. Alongside him, newly arrived Liam (Turner) joins the crew, desperate to escape his past. They head to sea and after a successful trip return to harbour. But something is amiss. They’ve slipped back in time and the villagers greet them as if they are the original crew.”"

Callum Turner Ten Times

Semi-flabbergasted that this photoshoot (via) of the disgustingly handsome Callum Turner escaped my greedy eyes last January when he was doing press for his Master of the Air series -- thankful that I have stumbled upon the photos today then as I looked for an image to attach to news of his latest project! Well not "news" exactly -- a review, more like! His film Atropia, which he co-stars in opposite the terrific Alia Shawkat, just won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, and I have reviewed the movie for Pajiba, read it here. I found it an enjoyable if not super deep movie that gets the majority of its juice from those two actors, who are very on point. Anyway staring at Callum is always a privilege so let's do it more after the jump...

Callum Turner Six Times

Instead of constantly refreshing my social media accounts to take in the horror that is the Los Angeles fire right now -- and here is a good rundown of places too donate to if you're doing the same and feeling helpless; I also recommend buying one of these Parks & Rec themed charity posters from Bottleneck Gallery, with the 100% of the proceeds going to the LAFD -- here are a few photos of actor Callum Turner modeling for Louis Vuitton because he's always a good distraction. Not that this matters in the scope of what's happening out there but my trip to L.A. for the Critics Choice Awards this weekend has now been officially canceled so I kinda need some Pretty Man distraction myself. The show's been rescheduled for January 26th but that's right in the middle of Sundance so it looks like I'll be missing my first ever awards show, siiigh. But like I said -- that's extremely small potatoes compared to the devastation. And if there are any L.A. readers here in the house please please please stay safe! So yes let's all hit the jump and dip our anxieties into some sweet Callum for a moment...

Callum Turner Nine Times

At the rate I am going I don't think I will ever finish Masters of the Air -- these war dramas just ain't my bag, even when they star massive heaps of hotties like this one and all the other Bands of Brothers before it. I've maybe finished two episodes across the several weeks since it started and it's just not overcoming my indifference. Still how about that Callum Turner though? let's keep getting him roles. Vanity Fair was kind enough to feature him this week and grace us with this very fine (if over-dressed) Matthew Brookes photoshoot; hit the jump for them all...

Callum Turner Nine Times

I have been watching Masters of the Air in like five minute increments over the past several weeks -- whenever I have a few minutes I turn it on long enough to get my Callum Turner or Barry Keoghan or [fill in the blank with the name of any one of the exceptionally attractive young actors that are on the show] fix, see something get all blowed up, and then move myself along. Seriously -- I think I'm about a quarter of the way through the second episode after weeks of this, haha. These war dramas made for grandfathers just ain't my bag, but they torment me every time by casting all the hotties! Anyway Callum here -- who I would just like to remind you I have been ogling since way back in 2018, so I'm no Callum-cum-lately dammit -- is indeed king of the hotties, and he's got this new shoot for GQ magazine, so let's give him his laurels by hitting the jump and looking on the boy like he deserves to be looking upon...

Callum Turner Four Times

I was looking something else up just nown when I realized that my review of George Clooney's latest film The Boys in the Boat dropped right before Christmas and so I never properly linked to that review from here at MNPP. So let's do that. Here is my review of that movie which here, two weeks later, seems all but forgotten. Like most of George Clooney's directorial efforts! That said BITB is actually not terrible by my estimation -- cheeseball as hell but it goes down easy enough. Oh and if you, like the rest of the world, have forgotten -- this is the movie about the US rowing team in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Here's the trailer. Callum here is the lead and he's real easy to stare at as far as I'm concerned -- we've been doing just that for years in many a post, after all! Anyway these photods are via Glass Magazine and if you hit the jump there are three more plus -- plus!! -- a few bonus shots of Callum rocking his skimpy rowing uniform on the set of Clooney's movie just cuz I love you...

Good Morning, World

Being quite lazy this morning since it's my last work day before the holiday break and just posting this new photoshoot of actor Callum Turner for VMan magazine (via), even though there's nothing morning coded to be seen -- oh well. We put on clothes in the morning and he's wearing clothes! Far, far, far too many clothes if you ask me, but I suppose that give sme an opening to link back to my first "Good Morning, Gratuitous Callum Turner" post or to my second "Good Morning, Gratuitous Callum Turner" post, since I've done plenty of Callum Turner posts in the past. Indeed just check the Callum Turner archives -- they're fit to burst. Anyway Callum's rowing movie The Boys in the Boat is out this holiday weekend and I'll have things to say on that soon enough so stay tuned. For now, let's just stare at a too-clothed Callum after the jump...

Row Row Row Your Boys

George Clooney's latest homoerotic fantasia The Boys in the Boat has gifted us with a trailer today -- this is his movie about the rowing team at the Nazi Olympics yada yada that stars Callum Turner (mmm Callum Turner) and Joel Edgerton and James Wolk and a bunch of other hot pieces crammed into tank tops and shorts and ...

... getting all wet and sweaty with one another. Sports! Am I right? I shared a pile of photos from the set of this movie back when it was filming that were worth a few shakes of the leg but this trailer proves that there's nothing like a golden-boy filter thrown on the camera lens to make the homoeroticism truly sing!

This movie is out on Christmas Day, so I suppose a lot of you people should be preparing yourselves to be shifting around uncomfortably in the seat next to your parents as you discover fresh new and exciting feelings about the wonders of rowing. Here is the trailer:

And I made several more gifs for us, after the jump...

Good Morning, James Wolk

Happy 38 to James Wolk today! I feel like I've barely seen him in ages! Since the skimpy panties in Watchmen, really? I never watched Zoo and that is my bad, because by the sound of it that nutty show was right up my alley and if people like me weren't turning in for it then no wonder it's not still on. Anyway we should be seeing some of James this year, as he's one of the (many many many) hot men starring in George Clooney's next directorial effort, The Boys in the Boat, about the rowing crew team in the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin. This movie is looking like it might be the gayest thing Clooney's ever done...

... and we all know how much that is saying with regards to the man who wore rubber nipples for Joel Schumacher. But in all seriousness it really does look like it might even rival Clooney's Catch-22 miniseries for young men in skimpy clothing -- just look at the set photos I posted last June! To say I'm looking forward to this is an understatement -- I think Clooney is generally a very bad director, but he's at his best when there are half-naked men in front of him. (Catch-22 is by far the best thing he's done, with that "Let's leer at Sam Rockwell's perfect ass" epic Confessions of a Dangerous Mind coming in second.) Let's hope he fully, similarly appreciates James when he's got him there.

Pics of the Day

Don't know how I managed to miss these photos from the set of George Clooney's upcoming movie The Boys in the Boat, which is about the University of Washington's rowing team in the 1930s working their way to the big 1936 Berlin Olympics (via) -- this one was on my radar immediately because the last time Clooney gathered up a bunch of hot boys for war stuff we got the hyper-gratuitous antics of his Catch-22 miniseries with Christopher Abbott. You add sports to the mix and you cast people like Callum Turner and like Joel Edgerton and like James Wolk and you set it during the height of inadvertently queer (thank you J.C. Leyendecker) "Arrow Man" fashion...

... and you've got a fetish parade right up my alley. Probably yours
as well! Hell it's clearly George Clooney's best life...

Has anyone ever looked more in their element?

And yes George, I am just jealous. With good reason.
You can see all the good reasons right on after the jump...
