What's That You're Reading, Sarah Polley?

.

Maybe it's a copy of Margaret Atwood's book Alias Grace, since you just signed on to direct an adaptation? Via DH:

"Sarah Polley is set to adapt the Margaret Atwood historical novel "Alias Grace" through her Tangled Productions company says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story is a recreation of a true-life Canadian double murder in the 1840s, and a look inside the mind of a 16 year-old housemaid who was convicted and jailed for killing a wealthy landowner and his housekeeper and mistress.

The project would mark the third film behind the camera for the actress following on from the Oscar nominated "Away From Her" and the well reviewed "Take This Waltz"."

I was just wondering the other day when Take This Waltz (which stars Seth Rogen and Michelle Williams) would finally be making itself known to us mere mortals who don't make it to every (any) film festival - looking around I see no firm US date, but a promise of "early Summer 2012." Fingers crossed.

Anyway, as for the matter at hand, I am a very big Margaret Atwood fan but Alias Grace has been sitting unread on my shelf for several years now, constantly pushed aside for other things, so I'll have to rectify that right quick. Polley plus Atwood sounds like pure awesome.

Hopefully she's be able to find a way to get Julie Christie to be in the film. Obviously not the lead but they worked so well together before, are close off the screen and any chance for Julie to spread her magic is always welcome, she works far too infrequently.
