If you're unawares my scattered presence as of late has been mostly due to press screenings for the forthcoming New York Film Festival -- kicking off this Friday with James Gray's latest Paper Tiger which coincidentally just dropped its trailer today and I shall do the same down below. Like ever. Like now, actually! Because tonight's the night I'm seeing the brand new restoration of Ken Russell's The Devils, a moment I've dreamt of for decades. Actual decades! If you missed the trailer for this one I posted it previously right here -- I adore this blasphemous mental breakdown of a movie and am just about popping out of my pants with excitement right now. Anyway since the last time I posted about it The Powers That Be (cough Warner Brothers cough and sigh) did release more news on the theatrical release of this masterpiece, which will only be one week long and begin on October 15th -- if you're in NYC it's playing Film at Lincoln Center the literal second that NYFF finishes and tickets are on sale this very minute. As for the rest of this week my schedule is still pretty random, with screenings in the morning and early evening, so you'll see me when you see me. And I've already got a heap of NYFF reviews locked and loaded too so please do stay tuned. Movies! How awesome are fucking movies y'all??
