Pics of the Day

Well these are hitting the sweet spot this morning -- the first official photos of Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor in Living director Oliver Hermanus' gay WWI-era romance The History of Sound have arrived thanks to Vanity Fair and they're looking just as lush as I expected them to given what a filmmaker Hermanus has proven to be. I've been avidly following every little step and leap forward of this adaptation since day one (which is coming up on four years now) so seeing it actually exists now, well color me happy.

Oh does it ever. Based on a story by writer Ben Shattuck that I have now had sitting on my bedside for about a year but not opened up yet (my reading habits have gotten so f'ing bad y'all) this movie will be seen very soon by those assholes at Cannes -- the rest of us will no doubt be waiting until Fall. Assholes! Anyway it looks gorgeous and I'm going to now go read the attached article at VF; y'all can see the rest of the new photos after the jump...

It's a quick read! It's an anthology of sorts so you don't have to read the whole book. Just the first and last ones (though I did enjoy the cumulative effect of the whole thing).

Anyways, there's a specific moment though that I might riot if they don't include in the movie.
