I didn't even recognize Murray Bartlett in this photo at first but when I did my head spun around like somebody just clocked an owl -- anyway since Murray is the patron gay of The White Lotus I will use this random photo that made me go gee-gosh-golly-damn to ask y'all quick-like to tell me what you thought of the third season finale if you watched it last night? I did and I am firmly ensconced in Camp Loved It, which seems to be an embattled place to be but I don't care -- I'm a maverick and I loved it. People seem to be angry at "plot holes" as if this show has ever been about "plot" or as if you even need a plot to make sense for something to be excellent (go watch any Hitchcock movie and get back to me). It yes is probably the messiest of the three seasons but character-wise Mike White's incisiveness into human behavior is still as sharp and funny as ever. Although the darkness at the heart of this season -- a real spiritual malaise and cynicism and, well, sickness -- was very much felt, and I'd say is pretty resonant with our moment in time! Apologies for being kinda vague in these talking points -- I just don't want to toss spoilers out here in people's face less than 24 hours after the show aired, so have at it with spoilers in the comments if you'd like. Me, I'm heading out to a screening -- actually I should warn y'all right now that I have n incredibly busy week ahead (including a half day off tomorrow) and then I'm going home to visit my family for an extended weekend, so it might be semi-dry up in here for a few days. Not that anything can be too dry with that photo of Murray Bartlett staring at us. In summation -- Carrie Coon rules, the end.
Now THAT is an actor #thewhitelotus

loved it too. would have done a bit more "closure" time with Gaitok's transition and Saxon+(-)Chelsea but ----not my stories! can't wait for next season.
Now THAT is a man,my type of guy our Murray,a nice break from the toned and the twinkie.
I have read so many stupid (there, I said it) critiques of the season and the finale that I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. People looking for a season of The White Lotus to play out like a season of NCIS: New Orleans. "Too slow" "Too many loose ends" "Why did they do that?" STUPID.
If that is a break from the toned, I'm never showing my fat ass in public again. (And trust me, I'm not fat.)
I'm also one who loved this season. I felt the slow burn leading in was always intriguing and thoroughly enjoyable. While the finale did feel like an anti-climax, Carrie's scene was incredible and completely transformed the dynamic of those characters. It was also a bit crushing when it looked like two of the characters who least deserved to die were going to... when it was only the one it was still heartbreaking.
Loved it. It was a great season!
Coon’s screaming Emmy monologue (while for all the episodes before I firmly thought they would have to go with Parker Posey) and Nivola’s “extreme experience” completely had me. Goggins/Wood storyline was a bit “phony” at last but I’m glad Mike White’s humanism has a so much big share of fans
“White hasn’t minced words since the conclusion of The White Lotus season three. When asked about critics who believe the show this season moved slowly and didn’t have enough plot, he had this to say on the official White Lotus tie-in podcast: ‘I’m world-building. If you don’t want to go to bed with me then get out of my bed. I’m edging you! Enjoy the edging. If you don’t want to be edged, get out of my bed. Do you know what I mean? Don’t be a bossy bottom.’” (Vanity Fair)
Gorgeous season as always. Coon, Wood, and Rockwell were the clear stand outs. Patrick proved he could act. And Posey treated every line like a buffet. To the gay of it all, that 10-minute, slow-motion
pan of Nivola's body in the water in the finale? White is giving us exactly what we want.
Exactly what I want would have been Isaac's naked body in the water. But I liked this season a lot. Rockwell's sex odyssey monologue was the highlight for me. He was so believable. Never liked him before, but that blew me away. And of course Isaac's robe malfunction is always in my dreams.
