Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Laura: Fred, dear Fred. There's so much that I want to say to you. You're the only one in the world with enough wisdom and gentleness to understand. If only it was somebody else's story and not mine. As it is, you're the only one in the world that I can never tell. Never never. Because even if I waited until we were old, old people and told you then, you'd be bound to look back over the years and be hurt. And my dear, I don't want you to be hurt. You see, we're a happily married couple and let's never forget that. This is my home. You're my husband. And my children are upstairs in bed. I'm a happily married woman - or I was, rather, until a few weeks ago. This is my whole world, and it's enough, or rather, it was until a few weeks ago. But, oh, Fred, I've been so foolish. I've fallen in love. I'm an ordinary woman. I didn't think such violent things could happen to ordinary people.

LOL this wasn't a personal confession or anything, Anon -- I just plan on watching this beautiful movie tonight for V-Day is all. I love it so. It's perfect and romantic!

I had the great pleasure of directing this play (Still Life by Noel Coward; part of the Tonight at 8:30 cycle) and it was a lovely experience. I had seen it produced in London under its film title and it’s a play I’d always wanted to do. I also saw a production of Pygmalion on that visit and later directed that play as well. The films of both of these plays are great works of British Cinema!

I know in 1946 Olivia De Havilland was a very popular and also political Oscar win but probably I would have choose Johnson for her heartfelt rendition

If you're ever in the UK you can go for a Brief Encounter experience to the station where it was filmed: https://tammytourguide.wordpress.com/2022/03/17/a-very-british-brief-encounter-in-carnforth/
When I was there, though, they didn't provide a doctor to take the smoke grit out of my eye.
