Red alert, or whatever -- Netflix's Red Sea Diving Resort movie, starring Chris Evans and Michiel Huisman and Alessandro Nivola as a group of Israeli agents trying to smuggle Somali refugees to safety, is out on Netflix today. Pantys 19: The Gratuities

Well it wouldn't be MNPP without some ogling of the menfolk, now would it? We've already taken stock of our favorite male and our favorite female performers of the year, but what about their butts? Butts, bits, in betweens. What's the movies without sex? Even David Cronenberg knows that. That said some years I've gone way overboard with listing the year's Gratuities -- I mean look how I went all out in 2010 and in 2011 -- but this year I'm keeping it, like the rest of this year's Pantys, somewhat under control. My 13 faves (I couldn't narrow it down to 10, I just couldn't) and then 10 runners-up. It's still a lot of naked guys, y'all. And let's get on 'em!

I keep forgetting to post this but have any of you watched 2:22 yet? It's a Groundhog Day style thriller starring Teresa Palmer and Michiel (pictured above, below, and everywhere in between) Huisman and it's been out on demand for a couple of weeks now. Anyway the trailer promises lots of half-naked Huisman, which...

... is how it should be, and I like Palmer enough, so I'm curious. Michiel's turning 36 today which is what reminded me, although the return of A Game of Thrones doesn't hurt - speaking of somebody please tell me where we left his character of Daario off last. I cannot recall. Wasn't he with greyscaled Jorah? Or did Jorah take off once he realized he was sick? Forgive me but even I - even I! - am having trouble remembering where every damn character is on that show at this point.

In related news Michiel's currently shooting Red Sea Diving Resort with Chris Evans and Alessandro Nivola and Michael K. Williams (we told you about it right here) and he posted that photograph of the latter two on his Instagram the other day. Michiel Huisman photographing Alessandro Nivola is a dream I once had, although there were far fewer clothes involved. Anyway in celebration of Michiel's birthday let's do a random poll cuz why not...

Today's Fanboy Delusion

I mean can ya blame him?

No, no you cannot. Michiel posted these shots on his Instagram, saying he's training for his new movie called Red Sea Diving Resort, which I thought sounded promising given that title. That sounds like Michiel Huisman in a wet-suit! Then I googled the movie and hey it also stars Chris Evans and Alessandro Nivola! I'm getting excited here! But upon actually reading the film's plot, it sounds less Baywatch than my imagination let on...

"The film (directed by Gideon Raff, the Israeli filmmaker behind the TV drama Prisoners of War, which was adapted as Homeland in the U.S.) recounts the true story of an Israeli reconnaissance team that decamped to an abandoned resort in Sudan in the early ’80s to rescue Ethiopian Jews who were trapped in the Northern African country. Undercover as entrepreneurs from a Swiss travel group, the spies were able to locate thousands of Ethiopians and then transport them to the Jewish state. In missions related to the one depicted in Resort, 22,000 more Ethiopian Jews were rescued via airlift.."

So it's serious then. Fine! The fact that Michiel's getting into shape for it though, well it gives me hope. Although I can't blame any actor who's about to star opposite Chris Evans for getting into shape. Anyway the film will also co-star Greg Kinnear, Ben Kingsley, Michael K. Williams, and in the token lady role Haley Bennett. (And hey we like her so if there's got to be one single female role... okay no there never does have to be just one female role, so nevermind.)

The tweet's been taken down but the internet is forever. Hopefully Netflix goes and drops a better quality copy ASAP because this movie is set to drop at the end of July anyway, and also I need these pictures in hi-def immediately. Michiel Huisman Takes Flight

I think we have found the limits to my Michiel Huisman devotion, you guys. It runs deep and it runs strong but I don't think it runs quite as deep or quite as strong as my total mind and body aversion to the actress Kaley Cuoco, who is the opposite magnet to my own -- she repels me away instantaneously and with sudden, great force. Anyway when I read (thx Mac) that his next role is opposite that person on a series for HBO called The Flight Attendant -- read the details at this link, I can't expend the energy; writing this close to that person is making me weak -- I got very sad. So I went and looked at some gifs of Michiel in Red Sea Diving Resort and I felt a little less sad. Hey, at least we've got that action movie with Mary Elizabeth Winstead to look forward to!

Alessandro's Birthday Mustache Rides

Red Sea Diving Resort might not be the sexy wet-suit movie that title promises but as we told you - excuse me, as Michiel Husiman's Bare Torso told you - it does have quite the sexy cast with Huisman and Chris Evans and yes, Alessandro Nivola, seen above showing off his Resort mustache good and proper. We approve, but next time ditch the tank, boss. The mustache would play really well nestled amid that much lauded chest hair.

Oh and happy 45, Alessandro!

A happy 46 to Alessandro Nivola, one of our favorite actors working today and who is having a very fine 2018 - among three great performances he was still my best in show in Disobedience (read my review right here), a movie that could've easily glided past his character's inner workings but which Nivola brought vividly to life. Then his part's small but vital, with its elements of surprise, in Lynne Ramsey's You Were Never Really Here, a movie a lot of critics are calling the best of the year so far. And on the producing side his movie To Dust was a big success at Tribeca - here's my review from there, where I adored the film. I will of course let you know about that film's release date when it gets one. (Fingers crossed that it's before the end of the year - I wanna see it again!)

Anyway these stills you see here are from Junebug, the 2005 movie that brought us both Amy Adams and the confirmation (along with Laurel Canyon) that Alessandro has got the world's best bum. I have looked everywhere, top to bottom, so I know - it's the best. Coming up next for Nivola (and his perfect bum) - there's Red Sea Diving Resort which has him opposite Chris Evans and Michiel Huisman and I have fainted, I have absolutely fainted. Okay, dusting myself off - also he's got a movie called Weightless, which has him reuniting with a teenage son he never knew and which co-stars Johnny Knoxville of all people? I guess the hot thing for Scandanvian actors this month is to take half-naked selfies of three (and it must be three!) lucky ladies feeling them up in their movie trailers - Michiel Huisman posted the above shot from the set of Red Sea Diving Resort (see previously) this afternoon, and just yesterday on Twitter we were gaping at Joel Kinnaman's sharing of a quite similar orgiastic experience...

I really made a terrible mistake, becoming a writer. 

Hair and make-up is obviously where the real action is.

A happy 38 to the great and proven true good fella Chris Evans -- now with the Marvel movies behind him (most probably) his IMDb page actually looks interesting for the first time in quite some time! First up he's got Knives Out, Rian Johnson's new flick that we told you is one of our most anticipated 2019 titles -- you can read our several series of posts on that movie here. Then there's The Red Sea Diving Resort, which Netflix just recently picked up, and which has him starring opposite Alessandro Nivola and Michiel Huisman and a shot of me hyperventilating in a movie theater. See my previous posts on that one here. Other projects include a movie from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer that has Chris as the only living descendant of Dr. Jekyl (called Jekyl) and a limited TV series about a father trying to figure out if his son committed murder called Defending Jacob, and then also on top of that a sci-fi tinged story called Infinite about visions and past lives from director Antoine Fuqua. So Marvel gave him lots of money, and Marvel gave him the star power to get a ton of projects lined up, and on top of all of that he gets to be Chris Evans... sigh. I should just go back to bed.
