Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... working the waves with Winston.

Not keen on letting me give Lupita all the love this week her very fine Us co-star Winston Duke has taken to his Instagram to show off his lil' tropical vacay -- here are a couple more shots via my Twitter:
.
.
I'm deeply entrenched in my Autumn Preparedness right now so I don't especially feel like making a wander backwards to beach weather but I'd probably make an exception if Winston wanted some company. Probably. Hell, I'll be the horse.

Winston Duke Five Times

.
Alright as mentioned earlier I'm not seeing Jordan Peele's Us until tomorrow night so please, if you have something to say before then... uhh, don't. I was going to say "be vague" but I don't even want vague -- I literally closed my eyes and hummed a tune when the trailer for the film played before Happy Death Day 2U a few weeks back -- I don't even want vague! But after Sunday feel free, I suppose. To tide us over here's some pictures (via) of the film's star and Black Panther bust-out Winston Duke, after the jump. Have a good weekend, y'all...

Good Morning, World

This is a very short week here at MNPP -- although as you can see below I did post two things over the long July 4th holiday, so it's not as bad as it might've been otherwise -- as I'll only be posting today and tomorrow and tomorrow only half-ly, as I have a mid-day screening. So let's make up for it with some Winston Duke this Wednesday morning, because Winston takes up some space. He fills a room. He's big, is what I am saying! In all the right ways. (He is six-foot-five y'all!) We heart Winston. (via)

Good Morning, World

Black Panther and Us star Winston Duke was kind enough to share these three photos on his Instagram over the weekend and who are we not to share them further in turn, while directing y'all to follow him on Insta yourselves, obviously. Thank you, Winston. See the other two pictures after the jump...

Good Morning, World

T'challa bless the thirst trap that Black Panther and Us actor Winston Duke's Instagram has become as of late -- I'm guessing all of this working out is for the second Black Panther film which IMDb says is currently filming? I honestly can't remember where the MCU last left his character of M'Baku but I guess it was right about where we found him, with incredibly stacked pecs. On that note:

They're Just Like Us

.
Anybody else getting a Freddy Kreuger vibe from that new poster for Jordan Peele's forthcoming follow-up to Get Out, called Us? The leather glove, the use of the phrase "New Nightmare"... anyway I know that some plot details for the movie appeared online this week, but I am one hundred percent avoiding all that I can in order to be baby fresh when the movie comes out on March 15th. (Hey I literally just posted about a different movie coming out that same day - it's getting crowded already!) What I do know is Us stars Elisabeth Moss and Lupita Nyong'o and Black Panther's breakout Winston Duke...

... and that's plenty.

The Fall Hunk

There was a pile-up of cool people added to the cast of The Fall Guy movie that is being made over the past few weeks that I saw happening but didn't keep good track of -- yes, it's a big-screen adaptation of the 1980s series that starred Lee Majors and yes that show was one of Little Me's favorites. Anyway the movie stars Ryan Gosling in that lead role but surrounding him will be Emily Blunt, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham (from Ted Lasso), Stephanie Hsu (the daughter in Everything Everywhere All at Once), and most important to us and today's interests one Aaron Taylor-Johnson....

... who has been photographed (via, thx Paul) on the set looking like this last night. Consider every single person who visits this site's tickets for opening weekend already purchased, Movie! Aaron worked with director David Leitch on his last film (that'd be Bullet Train) and came out looking great (even if I thought the movie was just alright) so I think we've got a new director-actor fave duo. I just hope Leitch gets around to making another Atomic Blonde movie someday... and not just because I am now picture Aaron playing the villain. But I am picturing that. Let's get that done. Hit the jump for all of the photos...

The Joel Kinnaman Gay Jock Movie We Deserve

I don't know if you guys have looked around lately, but the world's kinda garbage. Maybe you've been playing your videos games and haven't looked out the window for a bit -- in which case I envy you, I deeply truly envy you, and I apologize for being the one to tell you but... psst... 2020 has kinda bit. Everywhere one looks something is on fire or if it's not on fire it should be on fire. And so, in such a time, we go looking for things to distract us and to make us feel better and... well today's big Joel Kinnaman news might just be the best big news we'll have... well at least until Joe Biden wins the election next week. Variety is reporting (thx Mac) that Joel is going to play the football player Jerry Smith.

Smith was the tight-end (heh) for the Redskins from 1965 through 1977, and yes I was already sold on "Joel Kinnaman playing a football player" alone. But wait! That is not the entire story! And I am not just talking about the mustache he grew in that time period! Because Jerry Smith was also, drumroll please, a closeted homosexual! Joel Kinnaman is playing a gay football player! Rejoice, one and all!

"Jerry Smith was a star on the field, but was never able to find fulfillment in his personal life,” Kinnaman said. “He had Brig to help him through his struggle, but to this day so many young people don’t have anyone to turn to when wrestling with homosexuality — especially in the sports world. That’s one of the reasons this story needs to be told. It’s as relevant today as it was 40 years ago.”

The "Brig" that Joel mentions in the above quote is Brig Owens, a black teammate who was Smith's best friend and who will be the other focus of the as-yet-untitled film...

... their friendship through the Civil Rights years, basically. Owens is still alive and he is quoted as well in that Variety article -- that said he hasn't been cast yet, as far as I can tell. Maybe y'all have suggestions based on the above photo? My main thought is of Black Panther / Us star Winston Duke...

... but I might just be voting based on "who I want to see wearing a jockstrap and showering with Joel Kinnaman the most" so maybe don't listen to me. Or maybe do! That's probably your interest too if you're already here on MNPP reading all of this blather! Anyway we will obviously be paying attention to whatever news spills on this project, don't you worry. Until then here are a pair of new photos of Joel Kinnaman on the set of the Suicide Squad sequel that will whet our collective appetites for All Things Kinnaman...

Do Dump or Marry: I Wanna Wakanda

.
I was tempted to use Black Panther director Ryan Coogler for today's "Do Dump or Marry" in honor of the movie because if you ask me...

... Ryan Coogler is as hot as anybody in the cast. (Well maybe not as hot as Daniel Kaluuya. Daniel wins over everybody, if you ask me.) But then from what I have heard once I have actually seen Black Panther I will regret not giving 1/3rd of this post to actor Winston Duke, who admittedly turns it on as "M'Baku" even just in stills...

... so let's go with him. Him versus Chadwick Boseman in the lead
and Michael B. Jordan as the villain!

Give your answers in the comments!

Which is Hotter?

Writer-director Jordan Peele is turning 46 today and we want to take this moment to commend him for his many accomplishments -- a string of great horror movies full of immediately iconic imagery that reflects the state of our world in truly original and unexpected ways... sure, all of that! But also -- have you noticed that the dude has a great eye for gifting us with male eye candy too? Because I sure have. (It's what I do, after all.) There are many more examples -- any time Daniel Kaluuya is on screen; Steven Yeun in his cowboy get-up -- but I've chosen my two personal favorites for today's birthday poll. Above there's Brandon Perea in Nope and down below there's Winston Duke in Us -- now you must choose!

Happy birthday, Mr. Peele!
