Good Morning, Gratuitous McCaul Lombardi II

.
Well it's been awhile since I last checked in with the model turned American Honey actor McCaul Lombardi -- not since John Waters told me to watch him in the movie Sollers Point during the winter of 2018, at least -- and sure enough, I missed some stuff. Like...

... this Instagram video of him dancing on the set of his movie Port Authority with his co-stars Devon Carpenter and Dunkirk Twink Fionn Whitehead (aka my favorite of all the Dunkirk Twinks). Port Authority - which is a love story between Fionn and transgender actress Leyna Bloom --  premiered at Cannes last May and got good notices, from what I recall, so I'm surprised it hasn't gotten a US release yet. I'm not sure who McCaul plays...

... but him and Fionn seem to have hit it off. I love their love. Anyway even worse than the film being in some kind of limbo is the fact that that's the only film I see lined up on McCaul's IMDb page. Somebody snatch up this talented young man and put him in front of me please! I can only click through that great big gratuitous post I did in 2017 so many times dammit. I suppose I have to do everything myself, dammit. Hit the jump for a not quite as gratuitous as the last one but still decent sized collection of previously unposted McCaul pics...

McCaul Lombardi Two Times

Here are a couple of snaps of note that American Honey actor McCaul Lombardi has shared on his Instagram over the past week -- you cans ee plenty more of McCaul in our archives, of course. Checking his IMDb page he has a few projects lined up -- most interesting is one called The Inspection from Elegance Bratton, the documentarian behind the 2019 doc Pier Kids that followed three homeless LGBTQ youths; this new fiction-based movie will be a retelling of his own story (he was also a Marine) starring Hollywood actor Jeremy Pope; also in the cast besides McCaul are Raúl Castillo, Bokeem Woodbine, and Gabrielle Union. Good cast! We'll have t keep an eye out for that one.

Always Listen To John Waters

.
If y'all saw Andrea Arnold's masterpiece American Honey a couple of years ago then you've seen (a lot) of McCaul Lombardi. (He played the dude who couldn't stop exposing himself.) (Naturally we immediately did a great big post on him here on MNPP.) Or if you saw Patti Cake$ last year, well whaddya know McCaul was in that too. Basically dude's racked up a swell little filmography for himself real quick, and this year he took it a step further a leading man role in an indie called Sollers Point, which has him trying to reestablish his life after a drug arrest.

The movie didn't make a lot of noise when it came out in May (you can watch it right now on Amazon Prime) but none other and no less than John Waters just made us all take a new hard look in its direction by dropping it into his annual Top 10 list for Art Forum. Said John:

"Can a heterosexual director worship his male lead on film just as much as Paul Morrissey obviously did Joe Dallesandro in Trash? Sure looks that way. McCaul Lombardi is a blazing star in this small-scale but beautiful drama about a young parolee’s struggle to reenter lower-middle-class life in Baltimore."

Oh John, bless you. John knows what's what, everybody! And a new thing I just learned: McCaul is actually from Baltimore! Maybe he's just the hometown fella to get John out of film retirement.

Good Morning, Gratuitous McCaul Lombardi

.
When I sat down for a screening of the new movie Patti Cake$ on Tuesday night I thought I knew what I was in for thanks to the trailer - an underdog rapper movie a la 8 Mile just with a big white girl as our lead. And I got that. But what I didn't expect was a cornucopia of good-looking guys surrounding her. At first I intended to do a post on Siddharth Dhananjay, who plays Patti's best friend, and who I found completely adorable. Then I realized I could also do a post on Mamoudou Athie, who plays her new friend and producer.

But Siddharth and Mamoudou, adorable though they may be, are both relative newcomers and the pickings are sparse. That's when I remembered the third male lead in the movie - the dickhead Danny who rap-battles Patti and gets introduced rolling pizza pies in sexy slow-motion, played by a certain McCaul Lombardi. He seemed familiar, I thought. And sure enough...

... speaking of "dick heads" he played the enthusiastic flasher Corey in Andrea Arnold's brilliant and lively film American Honey last year. I remember him! He's pretty hard to forget. And then when I got to looking I realized he's done some modeling too...

... and I guess he was in a Lana Del Ray video? Anyway before I knew what was happening I had dozens upon dozens of pictures of him gathered up. And so McCaul wins for today! And seeing as how he's got several projects lined up already don't be surprised if you keep seeing him. For now though you can do just that - see him, dozens of ways - if you just hit the jump...

McCaul Lombardi Thirteen Times

Been awhile since we caught up with Indie It Boy To Be (and John Waters FaveMcCaul Lombardi, who first caught our eye (was that my eye?) in Andrea Arnold's American Honey, inspiring this great big gratuitous post here... and then hey whaddya know a second great big gratuitous post here. These photos today are from Wonderland mag this month, and the interview attached makes a point, one I'd wondered about, of mentioning what this past year has been for actors who were poised right on the precipice of buzz at the start of this year when the pandemic went and threw a wrench in it. (His movie Port Authority, with Dunkirk Twink Fionn Whitehead, has been delayed until who knows when.) He seems chill about it but then, he exudes chill. He exudes a lot of stuff. And you can see some of it after the jump...

Good Morning, World

.
Thanks to the model-turned-actor McCaul Lombardi for the gift of these two photos (click to embiggen) via his Instagram - we were just thinking about him the other day during the Independent Spirit Awards when Patti CakeS was nominated for some things. You know McCaul either from that or from Andrea Arnold's masterpiece American Honey - or maybe you just know him from the great big gratuitous post we did on him around the time the movies were out. Either way, hello and good morning to us all!

Sir Yes Sirs

Giving off some major Moonlight meets An Officer and a Gentleman vibes the trailer for The Inspection is here this morning -- the Closing Night movie of this year's New York Film Festival, the drama from Pier Kids director Elegance Britton stars Hollywood actor (I will be happy when I no longer need to clarify that I mean the Ryan Murphy show in this context) Jeremy Pope as a street kid whose mother rejected him who decides to join the Marines, and it's based on Britton's own story. I have posted about this movie a couple of times previously, after I found out it co-stars American Honey actor (and big time MNPP crush) McCaul Lombardi -- he can be seen...

... in the trailer punching the main character in the shower, because of course I'm attracted to the homophobic bully type haha. What's new? (Lombardi himself seems anything but, for the record!) Anyway also seen getting some steamy action in the shower (and I too would include lots of shower scenes in my military movie), and this of a less violent sort at least, is Looking hunk Raúl Castillo...

... which seems all sorts of promising (even if Raúl seems like he might be ten years older than the rest of these actors -- am I nuts?) Anyway A24 has their hands on this movie so expect it to get some real push beyond the fests, and it's in theaters on November 18th -- here is the trailer:

Good Morning, World

Way back in November of 2021 I told y'all about a movie called The Inspection from the director of the LGBT doc Pier Kids that was set to star Hollywood actor (as in the Ryan Murphy series) Jeremy Pope alongside one of our faves, American Honey actor McCaul Lombardi -- well the above photo is not from the movie but it was taken of Lombardi by Pope during the making of the movie, says McCaul on his Instagram, and that feels like a moment worth marking! McCaul describes the photo as "Taken in bootcamp when I was playing the most toxic dude in the Marine corp" which I guess gives us a hint of the movie's plot, since we don't know a lot except it's an autobiographical story from the director. Anyway we are always happy to see actors bond in such ways! We encourage this behavior!
