The Call Me By Your Name Trailer Is Here!

.
It's here! The trailer for Call Me By Your Name -- which I've been shouting about since before any of you people even had a clue (here's our first post about it, way before it became "A Thing") and so I feel weirdly protective of it -- has arrived, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I literally burst into tears in the middle of it. Right here actually:

I can pinpoint it to those tears on Timothee Chalamet's face. Oh I wanna go read the book again right this minute. Anyway I'm happy they're not pretending this movie is anything except what it is - there's no secretive obscuring of this thing being gay as the hills. And speaking of gay as the hills...

... we get to hear some of Sufjan's music too! Watch:
.
.
Anyway I'm a little overwhelmed myself,
so you guys tell me what you think in the comments, and
after the jump I've capped a few moments worth capping...

So beautiful and exactly as I have imagined it all these years.

Oh it looks so pretty! If I read it will it break my heart? I want to read it before it comes out.

I don't get the photography for this at all. Looks like they didn't bother supplementing with any lighting and used a flat profile straight from the factory settings for the camera.
Not why I envision a summer in Italy to look like at all.

And they made Suspiria with the same DP?! How are the witches gonna look like? Lit by some Walmart fluorescents?

I think it looks very pretty in some parts but I kinda get what you mean. I heard they used the same camera lens for the entire film.

Armie Hammer has such dreamy eyes...swoon. I think it will outrank Brokeback as the most beloved gay movie...Armie>horse-face Jake for sure. Can't wait to watch it!

Sorry, but you know what I am most excited about? Michael Stuhlbarg's performance. Pray God and all his saints it will get him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
He is, BY FAR, the most underrated actor of our generation!

I'm so excited for this but there are some things I'm not so sure about:

1) Still not convinced Sufjan is the right choice here, as much as I love him. I don't think twee-plinking-plunking-on-a-guitar is quite the right feel for this.

2) What mangrove said. This just doesn't look as lush and sticky as an Italian summer should be. The scenery is obviously beautiful but it does come off a little flat.

I agree with all the scenery comments. As much as I love Luca, I'm still a little bitter that his reasoning for not filming near the italian rivieria (as he did in his previous films) was that it was too hard and tricky and messy and complicated, so he decided to go the easy route and film at his home/where he lives, which is the countryside (Crema). This is a little thing that bothered me when watching the film, thinking it could've visually looked a lot better and match up to the book a little more.

This LOOKS almost perfect, but having finished the book a few months back, I am NOT feeling the music choice AT. ALL. It's not sensual enough for a story that sensual in the extreme, in every word on every page. Here's hoping it's used better in the actual film.

I am TOTALLY with you on getting all emotional about that shot of Chalamet in the car, though. ALL the feels.

This looks exactly how I imagined it would be when I read the book. Later!
