It's A Scream

There is a new Scream movie in theaters! And I have reviewed it! Click on over to Pajiba to read my thoughts on Scream 6, the latest stab -- hehehe get it -- at this meta-slasher franchise from the dudes who made Ready or Not. And no, spoiler alert, this movie is not as good as Ready or Not. But it's an improvement over the last one, mostly. I mean we see both Mason Gooding and Josh Segarra topless so it kind of has to be, for that alone.

But wait hey look there is another movie out today that I also reviewed today, although this is a far less enthralling proposition in every way -- click here to read my thoughts on Champions, the "Woody Harrelson coaches a ragtag misfit crew of Special Olympian basketball players" movie that the world most definitely was not asking for. I mainly just used this review as an excuse to talk shit about sports and sports movies though, so I guess this movie did serve a purpose in one way. (PS fuck you Woody Harrelson for your anti-vaxx bullshit -- you're as good as dead to me now.) In summation... yeah, here is more Mason Gooding:

Climbing Up the Walls

Hey! 'Scuse my tardiness -- forgot to mention last week that I had a lil' movie screening this morning that was delaying my return from the extended summer weekend. But much like Mason Gooding there, only without being at all in any way shape or form like Mason Gooding, I have now crawled out of my hole and voila, it's me. In all my resplendant glory. Which, a reminder, is not a whiff like Mason Gooding's resplandant glory. But it's what I got to work with! Anyway happy Monday. Let's try to be people again. We'll see how that goes. The life long project, that.

Mason Gooding Five Times

Scream star Mason Gooding is filling out the pages of Men's Health this month -- you can read the chat with him here, although I imagine you'll want to actually see Scream VI this weekend before you do since I imagine they talk about the movie. I haven't read the interview so I don't know for sure if there are spoilers but best not tempt yourself. Anyway my review of Scream VI will be up  tomorrow I'm guessing, but here's a real spoiler for you -- it's set at Halloween and we see Mason Gooding dressed as a shirtless cowboy. So, you know, go buy your fucking tickets. And hit the jump for the rest of these snaps (although unfortunately, stupidly, they did not recreate the shirtless cowboy costume)...

Mason Gooding Twenty-Five Times

I was actually pretty surprised last week when Scream 7 came out (read my lonely loving review of that right here) and we weren't absolutely inundated with hot Mason Gooding photoshoots -- cheated! I felt cheated! I did post this one here on Friday but that was paltry in comparison to my needs so I'm glad that InStyle mag rectified the siutation a little bit today with an appropriately beefcakey take...

... on our favorite Scream version 2.0 survivor. And just to make sure since I don't think I've ever asked this before -- we are all on the same page that this nepobaby's way hotter than his dad, right? Mason is nepo-babying done right. Cuba never did much for me (although okay some of those locker-room scenes in Jerry Maguire I might've rewound and played in slow motion a few times) but Mason? Unff. Major unff. Hit the jump to unff yourself silly...

Mason Gooding Seventeen Times

Normally I would feel overwhelmed by the sexy onslaught slamming into me this Thursday, as it's keeping me from getting any other substantive work done, but my brain is so fucking fried by this heat (Have I mentioned the heat yet? Perhaps in every post today?) I'm happy that a new photoshoot of MNPP fave Mason Gooding showed up in front of me (via) the literal second I finished making dozens of wet slutty gifs of MNPP Charles Melton. This is easy, gratuitous grunt work, keeping my dullard's brain occupied with forward momentum and gigantic pecs. It's about all I can handle today! Hit the jump for the remainder of our Mason here...

Good Morning, World

Well well well Mason Gooding half-naked three first posts of the day in a row? I will allow it. (Here is yesterday's and here's last Thursday's icymi.) Anyway normally I would flip these pictures around since the second one is more of a close-up and those are better to lead with and normally I would crop out the type as well, but there's a silly little progression to his captions (via) so whatever's getting him to exploit himself for our benefit, I'll accept it. I'll allow it, I'll accept it -- I'm in a very giving mood this morning. Should I say that twice to make sure Mason Gooding really hears me? He heard me. You heard me, Mason.

Mason Gooding Wants Your Sex

Another batch of names have been added to the cast of Gregg Araki's upcoming movie I Want Your Sex, and one of them is Scream hunk and MNPP fave Mason Gooding! Yes I cannot wait for Araki's lens to frame this slab of man -- Gregg will know how to do it. This is the movie that stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman as a May-December pairing whose entire calendar goes outta whack due to the power of their passion. I just came up with that plot description myself, I really should work in PR. Here is the way Deadline puts it:

"A provocative film blithely exploring desire, domination, and fantasy, I Want Your Sex asks, how far is too far? When fresh-faced Elliot (Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse. But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder."

Also joining the cast are Johnny Knoxville, Daveed Diggs, Charlie XCX, Margaret Cho, and Chase Sui Wonders from Bodies Bodies Bodies, which is such an Araki-esque movie I'm just now realizing? Ooh why isn't Gregg working with Rachel Sennott??? My brain just exploded. They would be amazing together. Get to work on the next one right now, Gregg! Mason can come too!

Pretty Pictures For Pride

The line-up for the 2026 Pride Edition of New York's NewFest has been announced today -- they're screening Gregg Araki's new movie! The one called I Want Your Sex starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman (as well as Mason Gooding whose fine visage I have included above) which I have talked and talked and talked about with great vigor and enthusiasm. No I have not seen it yet, and yes I think this will be my first chance. (It's hitting theaters on July 31st.)  The line-up also includes Leviticus, the queer horror film that I have seen and heartily recommend -- last time I mentioned it here was when I was complaining about my inability to write about it just yet, and as you can see I haven't done that yet. That's out much sooner -- that hits theaters on June 19th. But if you're in NYC NewFest is beating that by a few weeks! Tickets are on sale right this minute so go buy some, New Yorkers! And as a reminder the "Pride Edition" of NewFest that happens at the beginning of June is the smaller version of the festival -- the larger one happens in October. But if you'd like to see everything they are screening besides the two aforementioned titles (including some Heated Rivalry goodness) hit the jump...

Mason Gooding Five Times

The fact that Scream 7 is getting twice as many bad reviews as the 2022 reboot did can be chalked up to a few factors, I think -- series fatigue probably, plus all of the bullshit that went down with its making definitely -- but I don't think it has as much to do with the movie itself because... babes there's no way this is worse than that 2022 movie was. I actually gave that movie a good review when it came out but subsequent viewings have proven that I was just high on the supply of having Ghostface back because that movie's a pile of shit in retrospect. I suppose that could account for the difference in Rotten Tomatoes percentages! Everybody's willing and happy to give a Scream movie a green tomato now... even when I don't think it's deserving. Cuz as I said yesterday in my brief and vague (i.e. unspoilery) review -- I dug the damn thing. I found it light on its feet and I'm looking forward to re-watching it. I guess we'll see where audiences fall -- it's going to make good money this weekend because franchise horror movies almost always do right out of the gate, but after that it's about word of mouth. I'd be sad if this one was the last one. Not because the franchise shouldn't end on this note, but because I want more still. So we'll see. Anyway here's the ever gorgeous Mason Gooding for Wonderland magazine (via) who basically simply deigned to show up again in Scream 7, smile, and then just melt me to goo in my chair. Hit the jump for the rest of the photos...

Mason Gooding Seven Times

Mason Gooding posted these photos on Instagram saying thanks to Adidas for sending himself and his adorable doggy (who you'll see in a photo below) the clothes, and I think he's insinuating he took these photos himself? In which case I can only commend the man -- he sure knows his angles. Hit the jump for all seven snaps...

Take Another Little Piece Of My...

Heads up hot stuffs -- the Valentine's Day Slasher called Heart Eyes that stars the hot ass Mason Gooding has landed on Netflix today! You can watch it right here, or more importantly even you can read my review of it right here. It's fun! I didn't find it terribly scary but I liked it anyway. Maybe it was just staring at Mason Gooding for ninety minutes that did it. I guess we'll never know!

Do Dump or Marry: Pool Boys

(click to embiggen) I think it's probably best to just ignore the dumb context for these photos of actors Anthony Keyvan, Gavin Leatherwood, and Mason Gooding hanging out in a hot tub with fruity drinks together yesterday -- it was a promotional event for Amazon Clothing, eww -- and instead just enjoy the sight of, well, Anthony Keyvan, Gavin Leatherwood, and Mason Gooding hanging out in a hot tub with fruity drinks. Or if absolutely need be go ahead and pretend that you're the skeevy billionaire who paid to have these three pretty boys splash about half-naked on your yacht -- whatever works for you. I suppose I can't judge given all of the absolute filth floating around my own brain. Anyway you know the drill -- take to the comments and "Do Dump or Marry" these three. Yes right now! (via)

Mason Gooding's Pointy End

While you can never go wrong with watching the original My Bloody Valentine every February 14th it's nice to have a few options, so it was cool of Werewolves Within director Josh Ruben to give us a new one with his rom-com meets slasher Heart Eyes, starring the gorgeous Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt, that is out in theaters today -- click on over to Pajiba to read my thoughts upon it! Honestly Valentines is my second least favorite holiday (after New Years ugh) so watching lovers be butchered is always my kind of way to celebrate. But you do you!

This Valentines Day remember there is a slot for every hole!

Scream, Scream Again

I realize this is a spoiler for the previous Scream movie but enough time has passed that I don't give a shit -- I sure was glad to see Mason Gooding's name in thecast list for the new movie, reminding me that his character survived that dicey encounter with Ghostface last time around. I guess that makes him the Dewey of the new series -- the one who comes out on a stretcher at the end surprising everybody by not being quite as eviscerated as we'd thought they'd been. I guess we'll see if that stays true for Part VI though, which has just gifted us with its first NYC subway train set teaser trailer this morning...

It's a great tease, promising new ground for a Scream movie by moving the setting to New York -- of course the third film was set in Los Angeles, but everybody knows the New York subway is where all the violence has moved in the 20s, baby. I really hope the film forefronts the New York Post's right-wing hysterical coverage of its violence -- that'd be very funny.

Anyway lots of Scream this week -- if you missed it I wrote about the 25th anniversary of Scream 2 at Mashable on Monday. I don't think I even mention the last film in that piece, even while I make a case with regards to all of the films, specifically all of the killers and the faceless specter of Ghostface itself. Judging by this trailer it seems the new franchise might be carrying on the earlier one's tradition though, of foregrounding survivors over villains -- that would be the best legacy and I hope that's true. We will see on March 10th 2023 when Scream VI hits theaters! Tell me what you think of the teaser in the comments, and I'll share a few more hot photos of Mr. Mason Gooding (via) with you after the jump...

Gooding, Mason, World

This photo of Mason Gooding (via) is as close as I'm going to be getting to his upcoming comedy 72 Hours since I'm a deeply anxious person and Kevin Hart's constant screaming in all of his movies makes me have to run for the exit. But I am happy to have this photo of Mason! Hopefully there will be more and I can eventually see all of those online, silently, removed from all of their context. I admit I'm feeling particularly high-strung this morning -- I figured I'd be fine, coming in to work this morning, since the Knicks Parade that's happening downtown literally ends fifteen blocks from where my office is. Reader, I was mistaken. My subway was slow, crowded, and getting off was even worse -- trying to just get my coffee and get to my building's front door was some "Nam shit. I am shook. I mean listen, as much as I loathe sports I've been generous with this basketball stuff in NYC for the past few weeks -- I liked seeing my city celebrating and excited. But those were night-time things! Don't come between me and my Dunkin at 8:30 in the morning, yo.

I Want Your Brainsss

I considered waiting a little bit for another review of mine that is dropping later this afternoon, but what the hell -- not being patient guarantees me another post today and given the case of the Murky Mondays my head's currently swimming in that's not a gift I should side-eye. And linking to two reviews in one post is already a bounty, a bouffet -- then you add on half-naked Mason Gooding and -- I feed you people well dammit. That photo is one Mason himself shared from his behind-the-scenes experience making Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex, which my review of dropped at Pajiba on Friday. Read it right here. Surprising nobody I loved it -- do I wish that one of the many mentioned Grindr hook-ups that Mason's character kept talking about happened on-screen? Duh and durrr. Of course. But then there's a scene where Mason's in short running shorts and a half-shirt and I remember Gregg Araki always feeds us well too.

The other review of mine that dropped over the weekend was another one out of Fantasia Fest -- click here to read my thoughts on the horror doc Black Zombie, which ingeniously speaks about the undead-genre through the lens of Haitian and American race history. It's a terrific doc about The Movies -- as I say in my review it's yet another one that throws all the money I spent on getting a Film Studies degree in college into a big fire-pit; what I probably spent an entire sememster's worth of thousands of dollars on you can now see in a compact and fun little documentary. No I am not bitter, you're bitter. Great movie though! And as I said at the top -- stay tuned, I've got another Fantasia review dropping shortly...

Gooding Mason, World

Remind me when I'm more in the mood -- i.e. when I didn't just finish a shitty subway commute on a rainy Friday morning that I want real bad to be a Friday evening already -- that I should do a proper gratuitous post on Scream and Booksmart and Love Victor actor Mason Gooding. Because the boy loves taking gratuitous selfies -- the net's littered with them. (His Instagram is a good place to start.) For today I grant y'all just three photos, the above one for obvious reasons (i.e. he's hot and there are gray sweatpants) and the bottom two for obvious reasons (i.e. they're real gay with his upcoming co-star Tyler Alvarez in a movie called Pools, which is about a bunch of bored hot kids pool-hopping one summer. Sounds promising!)

Gooding Morning, World

Here are three photos that Mason Gooding felt kind and generous enough to share with us on Instagram this week -- say thank you, everybody!

I Only Have Heart Eyes For You

As I state basically every time I share a new horror movie trailer I have not watched this trailer myself because I have stopped watching almost all movie trailers but most especially ones for horror movies -- they always spoil too much. But I do want to toss this movie on your radar -- and share that photo of Mason Gooding while I'm at it because duh. So here's a post about a horror movie trailer all the same, and y'all can make your own adult choices about whteher to watch it or not. The film is called Heart Eyes...

... and it's a new Valentine's Day Slasher (out one week earlier on February 7th) from the great director-actor Josh Ruben, who's previously gifted us with the terrific horror movies Scare Me and Werewolves Within (not to mention acting in the terrific horror movie A Wounded Fawn). Here's what else I know about Heart Eyes even though I didn't watch this trailer -- it stars Gooding alongside Jordana Brewster and scream king Devon Sawa, and it was co-ritten by Michael Kennedy (of Freaky and It's a Wonderful Knife fame) and... that's it. The end. That's all I know. But Ruben has a hella proven track record so I'm sold. Here's the trailer, do as you like:

As I said Heart Eyes is out on February 7th -- it's nice to have a new V-Day horror movie, right? I was just thinking the other day that it's really weird that we never got a sequel to the original 1981 version of My Bloody Valentine, one of the greatest Slasher Movies ever made and which birthed one of the most iconic looking Slasher Villains, with its deranged miner Harry Warden, only to never capitalize on him again. Hell even the 2009 remake could've used a sequel -- there were far worse horror remakes in the Aughts than that one. And yes I have somehow come out swinging for TWO Aughts-era horror remakes today (along with House of Wax this morning) -- is something in the air or what? Have I been bitten by the nostalgia bug for Aughts shit like everybody else? Oh dear.

Good Morning, World

Lots of Mason Gooding in the past week or so! But I suppose that's to be expected with the new Scream movie -- and that shirtless cowboy Halloween costume he wears in it; did I mention that enough times? If you missed my review of the movie on Friday here it is -- if you saw the movie over the weekend tell me what you thought in the comments! Or we can just sit here in a post-Oscars post-time-change daze and stare at more photos of Mason until we're feeling awake. That works for me. Hit the jump for the new photos...
