The poster and trailer for a 2024 movie to watch out for arrived this week -- Housekeeping For Beginners is the latest film from writer-director Goran Stolevski, the man behind last year's really lovely gay romance Of An Age (if you haven't caught that one yet, do -- it's streaming on Prime) as well as the eerie folk-horror You Won't Be Alone with Noomi Rapace which I reviewed right here. Both terrific movies that I wouldn't have guessed had come from the same person, but with Housekeeping For Beginners (which I have seen) I'm starting to get a cleaner sense of Stolevski and his worldview and I am digging what I am seeing. HFB reminded me some of Xavier Dolan in its captivating sense of queer chaos -- it's about a self-made family of gay outcasts weathering some emotional upendings... but I'll have more to say about it closer to its release in January. For now watch the trailer and mark your calendars...
