Pedro Pascal Two Times

Sweater porn! Sweater porn! Loves me some sweater porn, and Pedro's not so bad himself either. I feel bad that I hated the fucking guts out of the first season of The Mandalorian because I do like Pedro and I would like to watch him in something. (I mean if a home-made porn with his BFF Oscar Isaac isn't available, anyway.) So I ask you people -- what are you thinking of the second season? Even if you're incorrect and thought the first season was better than a pile of shit, I will ask you, because I am open-hearted and generous, quite like an actual saint.

I’m loving season two but I also loved season one so what do I know. I think it’s fun and random and cute. Plus I love all the western influences. I don’t think it’s something to think too deeply about. Just enjoy it for it is.

“Baby Yoda” is a merchandising scam and I really don’t fucking care. He so damn adorable every single second he’s on screen and even if I hated rest I would watch for him.

It’s such a harmless show I can’t imagine anyone disliking it so much

Pedro's projects for the near future are a little thin on the ground, which is a bummer. I'd love to see him make something with Oscar Isaac. *Side-eyes Triple Frontier.* Something actually good.

As for The Mandalorian, I agree completely with the assessment that it's a harmless show, and I think that's actually why I couldn't get into it: it was a little too harmless. I didn't dislike it, I just couldn't engage--which is how I feel about most of Disney Star Wars and a good chunk of Marvel. It just exists, without being good enough to love or bad enough to hate.

For me Mandalorian is only as good as it’s set pieces. As long as the effects and action are good, I’m fine. The show looks stunning on my big screen. And I have to work at not reaching for my phone when there’s dialogue.

I was basically at where Anon 9:52 was, re: the show being bland. I just watched and watched and watched and felt like there was NOTHING for me to engage with at all, ever, that first season. It looked great, but in service of such cynical emptiness. Like sure yes Baby Yoda is cute but in such a manipulative way it irritated me. But the show just SAT there and expected hosannas and I grew more annoyed with it the more it actually got them. If people hadn't over-praised that first season I probably would've just moved on but now when the show comes up I have an instant wince.

I should add however that I have always LIKED Star Wars just fine but never been a super-fan -- I was a little too young for them, my childhood came in between the first trilogy and the second, so I had other things to fixate on. And so just being in that world isn't enough for me. Give me Oscar Isaac in some tight-pants and I'll watch, but I don't even get to LOOK at Pedro Pascal? Then why am I here?

The look of the show is wonderful and the score is a beaut.

To me The Mandalorian is kind of a frolic, and not too much more. I enjoy it because it's entertaining and has characters with some redeeming value. to me in some ways it feels like old school TV from the 50s or 60s. The Mandalorian himself is an assassin but they've kind of taken him out of character with caring for the kid. J I agree with you the whole baby Yoda thing does smack of tokenism - now for a season and a half pretty much. It's more than run its course, to be sure. Star Wars is kind of mythological, and to me that's always been its appeal. I'm not and have never been a superfan, but I like the heroes and villains and fall-from-grace and redemption aspects. This show is a little bit of a departure from that, and is light fare, but I don't think it's ever intended to be too much more than a comic book. It's got better this season, and I'd like to see it get just a tinge darker and edgier.

If you don’t like baby yoda you have no soul
