... you can learn from:
The Addiction (1995)
Kathleen: We drink to escape the fact we're alcoholics.
Existence is the search for relief from our habit,

I could write these "Life Lessons" posts gleamed from this movie a thousand times and still not exhaust all the philosophizing that Lili Taylor's doctoral student cum vampire spouts over the course of the film, but as I argued in that little thing I wrote about this movie the other week I'm not quite sure how much of her heady deliberations I'm supposed to take seriously and how much of it is bloody tongue planted deep in cheek. And that's what makes the movie so rich! Anyway I'm glad I finally caught this one - thanks to Arrow Video's gorgeous new blu-ray - after all these years, and a happy 67th birthday today to the dude who, you know, made the movie, writer-director and New York Institution Abel Ferrera.
