I Am Link

.
---  Number One Fan - I haven't read the whole thing yet but here's a good-sized chat with illustrious actress Rachel Weisz where she talks about her upcoming re-team with Yorgos Lanthimos - the one called The Favourite that we told you about here and which stars her Lobster co-star Olivia Colman as Queen Anne while Weisz and Emma Stone play rivals for the Queen's attentions. She says it's a comedy a la All About Eve, which makes sense since that's what it sounded like to us in the first place. Anyway we're living in a real Rachel Weisz wonderland this week, a very happy place to be, as we wait for My Cousin Rachel to come out this weekend. Sexy goth shenanigans ho!
.
--- Divine Comedy - This interview with John Waters over here is a couple of weeks old (it's a lot about his recently released book) but it's an interview with John Waters so you obviously will still want to read it. He weighs in on Mike Pence and other horrible monstrosities, so s'good stuff. Oh and in case you missed them I visited that gallery full of fake John Waters merchandise that I told you about the other week and posted some pictures on my Instagram. It was mind-blowing and I might go back every weekend before it closes.

--- Promise of a New Day - I really have no desire to wade into the ongoing fight over Radiohead's upcoming performance in  Israel - Thom Yorke and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters have been going at it in the press - but I would love to point you towards the just released new-old song "I Promise" (which the band has been playing for a couple decades but just gave a polish for release on the upcoming deluxe OK Computer anniversary re-release) and its music video from the Polish director of All These Sleepless Nights. Watch the video over here! And you can score the remastered OK Computer right here; that is out on July 7th!
.
--- The Road Head - Netflix has just green-lit a new series called How It Ends which is about the end of the world and which will star somebody I wouldn't mind being forced to spend the end of the world with - Theo James, pretty British boy extraordinaire. The story takes Theo on a road-trip to get back to his pregnant wife as the world crumbles around them. I haven't seen anything from the series' director - he made that goofy looking wrong-man sex thriller The Perfect Guy starring Sanaa Lathan, and also that movie starring Alessandro Nivola playing a guitar, though. No word on any other actors at this point.
.
--- Monster Smash - I haven't done one of these link round-ups in a couple of weeks so some news-stories of note have slipped through the cracks, none more egregious, given my interests, than the news that You're Next director Adam Wingard signed up to direct the Godzilla vs Kong movie. That is awesome and a thrill! For a second though I got afraid this meant the other Godzilla movie, the one that Trick r' Treat director Michael Dougherty was working on, might have fallen apart, but PHEW it has not - that movie's apparently filming right now! I need my mother-humping Ghidorah, dammit.
.
---  Extra Extra - About five point five million of televsion's greatest character actors just joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's movie about the Vietnam-era story of "The Pentagon Papers" called The Papers (my guess: the word "Pentagon" was focus-grouped as off-putting) including Sarah Paulson, Carrie Coon, Allison Brie, David Cross, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, and Jesse Plemons. They're joining the well-known somebodies named Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.

--- Ginger Made - The only things selling me on Tom Cruise's next new movie - the one called American Made - are the facts that it was directed by Doug Liman (not only did Liman direct Go, which is enough on its own to get my lifetime's dedication, but he also made Tom Cruise's best recent movie Edge of Tomorrow) and the fact that it co-stars Domhnall Gleeson... but those are a lotta goddamned facts. Especially when the trailer, which you can watch over at DH, introduces us to Domhnall all Peak Domhnall Ginger Heaven:
