Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Phantasm (1979)

Jody: Now, remember: you don't aim a gun at a man unless you intend to shoot him. And, you don't shoot a man unless you intend to kill him. No warning shots. Hey, you listening to me? No warning shots. Warning shots are bullshit. You shoot to kill, or you don't shoot at all.

I only started watching the Phantasm movies for the first time ever about a year ago, and I was shocked at how much I loved the first film - I totally get its cult status now. It's got a terrific weird mythology you always want to know more about, for one, but what's especially delectable about it is how pretty it is - I wasn't expecting that at all.

Anyway I've seen the first three films so far (I'm taking it slowly) and what the sequels lose in originality they nearly make up for with goofiness. I'm enamored. And now you can be too, for the first or the 50th time - a fancy new blu-ray edition comes out today! It has all five films on five discs full of extras, plus a sixth disc with even more - it looks pretty kick ass, you guys.
