Carnage Park in 200 Words or Less

.
I was no fan of The Last Exorcism (opposing genre-fan consensus I personally thought it was one of the worst movies of its year) but it turns out to've had a saving grace in its discovery of Ashley Bell's great big spooked eyeballs. She's good - she's likeable and a live-wire and you root for her even when you realize rooting for her might be bad for your own health. And she carries Carnage Park right over the finish-line on the sturdy back of her likeability - there's not a lot to the film beyond some stylish stabs at tension-building and shout-outs to more coherent pictures that came before, but when she's rumbling, the movie's roaring. Otherwise it's a dash of Hills Have Eyes (the remake not the original) and a dollop of My Bloody Valentine (the original not the remake) cooked to a crispy flaky golden brown by way of the Gingham Instagram filter. An Alice in Wonderland with mutilation by way of bear and booby -trap - Alice in Wolf Creek, maybe? It's a goof, but it manages to goof hardcore.
