Robert Pattinson Nine Times

.
Today marks Robert Pattinson's 30th birthday and I'm feeling a little bit dispirited that nobody much seems to be noting that he's been doing his best work over the past couple of years. He was fantastic in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis (but then I'm more bullish on that movie than many people seem to be) and then later he was very good in The Rover too...

... and then just a few months ago he came out of nowhere to turn his every little scene in Werner Herzog's Queen of the Desert into a delight. He was playing TE Lawrence, the fey adventurer that Peter O'Toole canonized in Lawrence of Arabia, and Pattz was witty and charming and the entire arid movie sprang to life whenever he showed up. So basically what I'm saying is I'm looking forward to what Rob brings us in his 30s. Hit the jump for six more pictures...

Please tell me those nasty, disgusting tats are for some movie role and not real. Shame if they are, he'd be a handsome man without them.

They're not real. But he'd still be handsome if they were.
