The Light & Little Men

The only thing these two movies have in common, at first glance, is the fact that both these trailers arrived on my virtual doorstep within a couple of minutes of one another. But that's enough reason to double 'em up. First off here's the new trailer for Derek Cianfrance's The Light Between Oceans, starring Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Rachel Weisz:

I thought the first trailer we saw was very pretty but this one ratchets up the prettiness like ten-fold and I'm not just talking about the sight of Fassy in old-timey britches and suspenders. (Nothing wrong with that, though.) This movie's out in September, and based upon this best-selling book by ML Stedman. Next up...

... we have the trailer for Little Men, the next movie by Ira Sachs. Sachs' last film Love is Strange, which starred John Lithgow and Alfred Molina as getting-on gay folks, is basically a straight-up masterpiece, so we're paying attention. Little Men stars Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle as the parents of a teenager whose new friendship comes with complications for everybody. It's out at the start of August.
