Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Misfits (1960)

Perce: So what I want to know...
what I want to know is:
who do you depend on?
Roslyn: I don't know. Maybe all there really is
is just the next thing. The next thing that happens.
Maybe you're not supposed to remember
anybody's promises.

This upcoming weekend will mark 100 years since the birth of the great writer Arthur Miller,  who was born on October 17th 1915 and went on to gift the world with little trinkets liked Death of a Salesman and The Crucible, not to mention the script for The Misfits which I adore. Oh and he married Marilyn Monroe while he was at it cuz why not? It was a thing to do.

And he wrote it while - they both knew - their marriage was seriously on the rocks. Supposedly, the script drew heavily from their problems. Its maybe why she gave one of the most poignant performances of her career, knowing she was speaking his words about their inevitably faltering relationship.
