Walk It Off, Paul Newman

.
Look at that entrance! That's the first shot we see of Paul Newman in Hud and he's actually limping from all the sex he's just had - if that doesn't send your dirty thinking into the stratosphere nothing will. Today is the 90th anniversary of Newman - he was born on this day in 1925. And so over at The Film Experience today's "Beauty vs Beast" is tackling this movie and with it my favorite Newman performance. Humina humina, hubba hubba, Hud.

And listen bless Patricia Neal, she's wonderful in this movie in her smallish role, but if this one doesn't finally get The Film Experience crowd to award an actor over an actress I give up. Come on! Click on our Newman tag for an endless archive of fine Newman gratuity.

Patricia Neal is brilliant in it and won her Oscar. She was married to Roald Dahl at the time, and shortly after this had her famous stroke. I love her understated performances in movies like The Day the Earth Stood Still and A Face in the Crowd. Her autobiography is terrific.
