That's A Semi-Random Bunch Of People There

.

I like John Krasinski, I think (I don't watch the U.S. version of The Office, but he seems good-natured enough). I like Maya Rudolph very much on SNL. Throw them together as a married couple crossing the country with a baby-bump in a comedy written by Dave Eggers and his wife that'll be directed by Sam Mendes and... I go huh? From EW.com:

"American Beauty director Sam Mendes is taking another look at the American family, this time in a comedy written by author Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius) and his novelist/editor wife, Vendela Vida (And Now You Can Go). The untitled film follows a couple, pregnant with their first child, as they travel America looking for the ideal place to settle down. Focus Features, which will distribute the film, hasn't confirmed casting, but John Krasinski (The Office), pictured, and Maya Rudolph (SNL) are rumored to star."

I mean... okay. It could be terrific. It's a 180 after Jarhead, that's for sure (ETA I forgot he's finishing up Revolutionary Road right now; whoopsie!)... anyway, perhaps home-life with a lovely lady by the name of Kate Winslet has Mr. Mendes thinking familial-tinged thoughts.

Krasinski makes sense to me here... it's just Rudolph, I suppose, that's sort of throwing me off. I like her very much, don't get me wrong, and I could totally see her doing something that I assume will be less broad than what we're used to seeing from her... it's just, well I feel shameful in admitting such a suspicion, but I have it all that same, that her relationship with Paul Thomas Anderson is opening some doors that otherwise might not have opened... wow I'm a jerk. Sorry Maya! Love ya! Go get 'em, you!

If you saw A Prairie Home Companion, did you like Maya in it?

I did see PHC, and I... I remember thinking the same thing when Maya first appeared - holy heck, wtf is she doing in this movie, oh wait right, PTA was the "behind-the-scenes guy" in case Altman died before the film was finished - and then I remember thinking she was fine... honestly, PHC didn't make much of an impression on me. But I liked seeing Maya, and I like her very much, so I don't know why I had to open up this can-o-worms with regards to her getting these roles. It could be I see so many of the other just-as-talented SNL ladies getting shafted, and it makes me curious why she gets these sorts of breaks... NOT THAT SHE DOESN'T DESERVE A BREAK! I've spun myself into my own verbal grave, sigh.

Oh, John Krasinski is so cute! I mutate into a total dude when I anticipate that shower scene in Smiley Face. I'm sure it won't be sexy, but imagining it is!

I'm a big fan of the original Office, and I absolutely adore our American version. Jim (J.K.) didn't strike me as particularly crush-worthy at first, but he makes me swoon now. What's neat is that it reminds me of attraction in reality, where some people become achingly cute as you get to know them.
