Pics of the (Yester)Day (Or The Day Before, Maybe...)

I meant to post these the other day, but then... stuff... happened. They're from that Cloverfield site 01-18-08... and whatever could they mean???

I'm not geek enough to know the exact dates that all three were posted to the site, but I do know that at least the final image there, of some carcass on the beach, showed up within the past couple of days. I stayed away from most of the assorted online shenanigans until after seeing the film - I didn't want to spoil my brains with extraneous info beforehand - but have since checked out a lot of it and it's all wonderfully silly. Deep sea trench creature goo for soda pop and what not... I know a lot of people are tired of JJ Abrams' schtick, but I still find it entirely entertaining. Especially when watching Cloverfield without all the extra info was totally satisfying in itself (my review) and I didn't feel as if my experience was lacking for not knowing what lil' nuggets of extra info had been revealed online. That's the right way to do this stuff.

Anyway, as to the above images... is it a whale? Is it the monster's corpse? I know about the snippet of backwards-played audio at the end of the movie that says "It's still alive"... and, for the record, I adore the idea of a sequel based on another videotape taken by an entirely different group of people on the same night of the attack as documented in this first film. Sounds splendid.
