Do, Dump, & Dump: Hobbit Directors

.

From EW.com's article on Peter Jackson's involvement on The Hobbit movies comes word that Jackson's seriously most definitely too busy to direct them, and this:

"Directors Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth), and Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men) are still the names that come up as alternate possiblities, but no official creative decision has been made."

So a question to everyone: Which one of those three would you choose?

As for me... they all have their pluses and their minuses. Okay okay, I could see the pluses for any three of them, depending on how you look at it, far outweighing their minuses. They're all great directors. Raimi... I have the feeling Raimi's, looking at Spider-Man 3, a little blown out by huge productions and really would like to see him do something small, perhaps horror-tinged, next. Choosing between Cuaron and del Toro, the men who made my #1 and #2 movies last year... well the thought of choosing gives me hives. Hives dammit!

Y'all choose. Help me out here! And whatever you guys choose wins and gets the job, as whatever I decree rules the world. Feel free to give a write-in suggestion as well. Like David Lynch! Spooooky.

Cuaron gets it

Of the three here, I'd go with Cuaron. Harry Potter 3 shows he can work with a large budget, and A Little Princess shows he can do a children's film.

As a write in candidate.....no question: Terry Gilliam

One of the reasons I love this blog-I gave the same Number 1 & 2 ranking last year.

Definitely Cuaron, though I really wish that Jackson would reconsider here and direct it.

Huh, I read that article different. I saw it as him wanting to do it and it getting closer and closer to a done deal.

Jackson gets my pick. Then Cuaron

I have to go with CUARON... but then, I always do.

in truth i could care less about a HOBBIT movie though... especially because they feel it needs filler to be two movies.

i love Peter Jackson forever for HEAVENLY CREATURES and LOTR but i grow ever wearier of what King Kong portends for his future.

do Cuaron, dump Rami because he would make such a good sad eyes face, marry del Torro because i would have such a smoky, filthy language filled life

Hire some hack to do it, allowing your three candidates to focus on projects worthy of their time. I mean, Lord of the Rings kept Peter Jackson from doing anything decent for years.
