I Am Monday Morning's Link

--- This deserves it's own post, but I haven't had my morning caffeine yet so this'll have to do - The New York Times Magazine has a fantastic interview with Michael Haneke up from yesterday. There's some visiting on the set of the Funny Games remake and loads of chat about his much-criticized intentions with his always controversial work; it's a MUST- like you totally gotta -read.

There's also mention - and this will get it's own post in the very soon future - of the huge MoMA retrospective Haneke's getting next month - they're showing loads of his films that've never played here in the States, and I'm planning on screening about 7 or 8 of them myself. Haneke is also going to BE HERE for the original Funny Games screening for a Q&A, and if you don't understand how excited that makes me then you've never read a word I've ever written before.

--- Straight From Southland - Harry Knowles reviewed Southland Tales at AICN, though besides telling what happens he doesn't really review the film, per se; basically, he sounds very positive but as if he needs to watch the film 20 more times, which... well yeah, that's what I expect too. And plan on doing. If the god-damned thing would COME OUT ALREADY.

--- Heroes Cometh - Tonight's the first episode of the second season of Heroes, and all I want to know is, is Kristen Bell on it yet? Yes, I dug the show's first season, and yes, I care about other shit too, but not nearly as much as my gal Kristen's appearance. I've avoided all spoilers - hell, I haven't even seen the TV preview - so I have no clue.

But speaking of Heroes - y'all know that Origins spin-off series that'll air later this Fall (I think it airs during original-flavored Heroes winter break)? Well none other than Mr. Eli Roth will be directing an episode! He's taking time off from his busy schedule of NOTHING to do it. He joins Kevin Smith, John August, and Michael Dougherty as the announced names so far.

--- Vagina Dentata - That horror flick Teeth about a pro-abstinence teen girl that has chompers in her privates is getting an actual release, which has me shocked (and jotting down the date, of course) - it'll come out in NYC and LA on Nov. 30th. BD has a gallery with a few stills.

--- Side of McLean - STYD has an interview with director and MNPP-love Greg McLean on his approaching croc-o-rama picture Rogue.

Kristen's character, Ellie, shows up in episode 5...and then will proceed to take over the show with her brilliance!
