RIP Alice Ghostley

Like all good gay boys growing up in the 1980s, I watched a lot of Designing Women. My favorite character was Bernice Clifton - she probably should've made my favorite 25 TV characters list, in retrospect - the loony friend of Suzanne Sugarbaker's played by Alice Ghostley, so Ghostley's passing over the weekend has got me down. I'm not all that familiar with all of Ghostley's other supporting work through the years - she played Esmerelda on Bewitched and had roles in everything from To Kill A Mockingbird to Grease - so she'll always be Bernice to me.
