Real Quick

.
Y'all need to go and see The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.

This is gonna be on my Top 10 for the year. Wow. When the movies that come to mind while trying to compare it to something are Days of Heaven and McCabe & Mrs. Miller, you know you've got something special.

And it really is about time Brad Pitt was nominated for Best Actor, right?

Oh thank god....I was afraid the studio would screw it up.

How big is Zooey's part anyway?

It took me a minute to realize it was Zooey, I had no idea she was in this. Her part is tiny, she shows up in like the last 15 minutes for maybe 2 scenes. She does get to do a little song while doing one of those feather fan dances, though, that's memorable.

Casey Affleck is so much more to me now than he was before this film, too. He's INCREDIBLE in this.

Wait! Why is it "about time" Brad Pitt got a Best Actor nomination? It's hardly like he's been routinely snubbed. You could say he deserved a second Supporting Actor nod for Fight Club (after his nod for Twelve Monkeys), but other than that?

Se7en is about as close as I can think.

Still, I'm glad you like the movie. I really wanna see it - like Dominik, like Affleck, like what it's going for, like the "poetry" description so many are using.

I just think he doesn't get enough credit for his acting, that's all; I wasn't specifically thinking up examples where he's been snubbed.

This is why I usually stay away from Oscar prognosticating; I'd even forgotten he did get a Supporting nod for Twelve Monekys; unless there's something of Brokeback's status within my concerns I don't much care about the Oscars usually. I mean, I watch them; I've watched them every year since I can remember, but I don't much think they mean anything.
