I Am Playing Catch-Up Links

.

--- Here is what is whassup - Brad Anderson is one of the more interesting directors working - he made the criminally underrated Session 9 and The Machinist - so I told y'all I'd post more on his next project as it became available; anyway, Twitch has got a link to a few of the first stills from Transsiberian, his next project that stars MNPP-fave Emily Mortimer, along with Woody Harrelson and Ben Kingsley.

--- Potter the Next - they're already scouting locations for the next Harry Potter film, The Half-Blood Prince, which will be the first of the series directed by a previous director - David Yates - since Chris Colombus brought us the first two films. Also, word is that the HP pic coming out in July, The Order of the Phoenix, will be the shortest film yet, clocking in at 138 minutes, even though it's from the longest book in the series so far. Hrm.

--- Experience the (lack of) wonder - CC2K has got a brief review of the Wonder Woman script not written by Joss Whedon that was purchased by producer Joel Silver the day before Joss announced he was leaving the project. Sounds positively craptastic (not that I'm bitter or anything...).

--- I am always right - see how at last Friday's Horror Roundtable.

--- My Head Still Hurts - E! Online has got another interview with Lost showrunners Lindelof and Cuse where they tell us (highlight for spoiler) Why They Killed Charlie and other such sundry details. I haven't read it through it yet, but my guess as to that question's answer? "Cuz."

--- I think I love them - EW's got a look at the new "Hollywood Zombies" cards, which is what would happen if US Weekly was filtered through the Garbage Pail Kids, which couldn't be more up my alley. (I was flipping through some of my old Garbage Pail Kids over the weekend, in a brain-bending coincidence.) Anyway, EW's got a look at a couple cards, and they look like fun; think I'll be grabbing 'em once they're out.

Wait, so you mean they've actually adapted Harry Potter for cinema. Never thought I'd see the day.

It's weird that I consider Azkaban to be an amazing brilliant movie, but am only ho-hum about the rest of the movies. I thank Alfonso.

I have no huge love for the first two, the Colombus films of the series. I love Cuaron's film. But honestly Mike Newell's Goblet of Fire is my fave. It was my fave book and I thought he captured a really nice version of it. I coulda maybe used a lil more of the dragons, but I still love GoF.

I am nervous about this Yates character. I hope he's not Colombus redux.

1.) Alfonso Cuaron is a ***** **** ************ **** ** ****** **** ** ** * ** ************** brilliant genius. I knew that the moment I saw Azkaban, and in which was proved (UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE DECADE) with Children of Men. The fourth one was incredibly and beautifully dark, but yeah, the first two are surprisingly long and painful to watch after 3 + 4.

2.) Emily Mortimer could be GOD. Her in Dear Frankie is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen anyone give. EVER.

I liked Goblet of Fire but it didn't even come close to matching the fun I had with Azkaban. The first two are tosh, quite frankly.
