Okkervil River

Hey, these guys are terrific! Supposedly, everyone already knows this. But I suck. So I didn't. Thanks to Brooklyn Vegan for ending my insufferable suckiness, for a bit. It'll surely rear its head again, though, soon enough.

Anyway, I've been listening to the song "Westfall" off their 2002 album Don't Fall In Love With Everyone You See non-stop for the past 24 hours. It's killer (literally - sample lyrics go "And when I killed her / It was so easy / That I wanted to kill her again. / I got down on both / of my knees and / She ain't comin' back again.")

Their new album, Black Sheep Boy, is on everyone's top ten lists of the year so far, and you can download a couple tracks over here, if you're so inclined.

I also snatched up a ticket to see them play the Knitting Factory on November 11th. The show doesn't start until 11:30pm, though, on a Friday! I'm an old man! I'm going to fall down dead mid-show, I know it. Sigh...
