Bosch

This morning on the subway I was reading Joyce Carol Oates' introduction to a collection of H.P Lovecraft stories, and she mentioned the painter Heironymus Bosch, whose name was familiar but I couldn't think if I'd ever seen his work. So, lil' internet search engine I am, I went a'looking. His stuff's great, you can find some web galleries of it here or here.

But that's not what I found cool enough to post about. What's awesome are these so-called "action figures" from his work. Look at some of these:

The image “http://www.3d-mouseion.com/images/jb/jb13.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
The image “http://www.3d-mouseion.com/images/plaatjes%20jpeg%20mouseion/jb09.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
The image “http://www.3d-mouseion.com/images/plaatjes%20jpeg%20mouseion/jb05.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
The image “http://www.3d-mouseion.com/images/plaatjes%20jpeg%20mouseion/jb11.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
They are soooo cool. I have to get one! Sure, yes, they're tremendously dorky. But that's hardly stopped me from indulging any of my obsessions before.

I love that they're calling them "action figures" too. I half expect them to have kung-fu grip or that the distended penis monster in the first image lights up in the dark. If only!
