Did any of you end up seeing Joe Keery's social media satire Spree? I posted various Keery-esque artifacts in relation to the film last year around the time it was coming out here in the U.S. but then never reviewed it -- I didn't have a lot to say. I thought it was fine, if a bit obvious, a bit low-hanging fruit. But all of these social media satires have been... well, except for Ingrid Goes West, as I said the other day when the trailer for Mainstream with Andrew Garfield dropped -- the latter which looks a lot like Spree, it must be said, at least insofar as there's now a genre all about gawky twink's being deranged and annoying online. (Incidentally, I posted some new Garfield gratuity on Twitter earlier this week when another trailer for that movie dropped.) Anyway! Spree is fine, and it looks like the unsuspecting people of Japan are about to have that fine-ness dropped on them because Keery did an Instagram post in Spree character saying just that. (Thx Dennis) Oh Keery's probably big in Japan, isn't he? That'd fit. Anyway, watch:

Hair Today, Still Hair Tomorrow
.
I thought I had posted about Spree back when it played Sundance at the start of this year but honestly, who the fuck knows what happened in the past six months. A search tells me I didn't -- a search also could have told me I gave birth to a velociraptor named Bartholomew and I'd believe it at this point. Whoo! We're hitting a mood! Anyway, Spree. Spree is a movie that stars Joe Keery as a ride-share driver who decides to social-media document a day of murderous mayhem in order to gain viral popularity. So we've got some Series 7: The Contenders, some Taxi Driver, some Joe Keery having weird serial-killer hair...
I feel as if I remember Joe's flattened down hair causing an OUTRAGE on the internet when it was spotted last fall, which was probably the time when this movie was shot -- how weird it must be to have to mentally prepare yourself for all of the hair questions he's going to be getting. Like at the time when people asked did he scream, "Stop yelling at me, I am playing a crazy murderer, this is crazy murderer hair!" And now that we can see the movie is coming out will he be all, "SEE??? CRAZY MURDERER HAIR! I TOLD YOU!"
Anyway there are actually other people in this movie, it's not just two hours of Joe Keery having a conversation with his hair -- Spree also stars Sasheer Zamata, Mischa Barton, Frankie Grande, Kyle Mooney and David Arquette, and Spree will be hitting demand, hair-first, on August 14th. Here's the trailer!

Good Morning, World
.
I still haven't watched Joe Keery's ride-share social-media horror movie Spree yet even though when I shared the poster with you last week I said I was planning on doing just that... well I couldn't because my internet was down all weekend, limiting my movie choices to things I had on Ye Olde Physical Media. It's a good thing I recently went on my own sort of spree, the shopping sort...
... thanks to the pandemic panic, and had plenty of that sort on hand. Anyway Keery is featured in the latest issue of Interview Magazine, being interviewed by his Stranger Things co-star Finn Wolfhard and photographed at home by his girlfriend, which leads to lots of photos of him in the tub, which is a win for all of us. Did any of you watch Spree? I should have internet by today so I'll try to catch it soon. Until then hit the jump for the rest of these photos...

American Hairdo
.
Not sure how I missed this one so thanks to MNPP pal Dennis for tossing the poster for Spree, Joe Keery's ride-share serial-killer movie, this way -- we do love a cute boy covered in blood, after all. Also Spree is apparently hitting VOD tomorrow? I technically knew this since I said "Spree will be hitting demand, hair-first, on August 14th" three weeks or so ago when I shared the film's trailer with y'all, but I didn't ever put that date in my calendar so whoopsie, forgot. They never sent me a screener so I had no impetus to remember, not in a timely manner anyway. I'll just watch it tomorrow with the rest of you!
