Imaginary in 150 Words or Less

Way too glossy to be taken seriously as a horror movie -- Imaginary is the kind of movie where the lead actress has perfect hair and make-up even when she's being tormented by a nine-foot-tall teddy bear monster in an Escher-esque nightmare-scape. But... this is also a movie where there's a nine-foot-tall teddy bear monster in an Escher-esque nightmare-scape. It's seriously way dumb, but often very fun. We're not talking about a Night Swim level travesty here. I mean Betty Buckley shows up and is a total and complete weirdo and you gotta give a movie props for that. I imagine it will play well for its intended target audience of nine-year-olds who are watching it without their parent's permission, at sleepovers or whatever rainbow parties it is that kids are up to these days. It's fun, it's trash, it's fun trash. And I want a nine-foot-tall teddy bear monster toy.

Totally agreed it’s not great but it’s the perfect introduction to horror for whatever this generation is gonna be called. It reminded me of Bill & Ted’s Bohus Journey when they were stuck in hell. Not really horror but delightfully terrifying to my younger self.
