Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Marion: At my age a birthday is only
a time to turn all mirrors to the wall.

The great Douglas Sirk was born 126 years ago today!
If you've never seen this movie the final scene is
my favorite piece of acting from Stanwyck ever -- seek it out!

There's Always Tomorrow is really one of Sirk's under discussed gems. Barbara Stanwyck is the standout performer (unsurprisingly) but Fred MacMurray makes a good showing in the film as well. My only complaint is that the great Joan Bennett is underused but that's more due to the structure of the story than anything else.

I LIKE the photo of Richard Gere.

Jason,
You have any ideas on how to see this movie short of buying the DVD? Would love to see it.
Thanks.

I think it might still be on the Criterion App. I just watched it a few weeks ago on that. There was a collection of early Sirks. This was great but also as great was Thunder on the Hill with Claudette Colbert, completely and brilliantly subversive to religious faith in one critical scene.
