The North Water Be Nigh!

Scurvy laddies and shiver me timbers the trailer's here this morning for director Andrew Haigh's miniseries The North Water starring Colin Farrell and Jack O'Connell as two men at odds on an Arctic whaling expedition -- I've posted about the series a'plenty by now so just click on back through the archives if ye need a refresher! Here's the trailer:

That trailer comes via IGN where they also interviewed Haigh, so click on over for that. The big surprise is that the show is premiering on AMC+ in just one week? And on my birthday no less! On July 15th. I could have sworn that the show's release was further down the line -- indeed when I posted some photos from the show just three weeks ago we had no idea of a release date. This is real sudden! I'll take it though! Happy birthday to me!

I hope this one will be packed full of homoeroticism like The Lighthouse! But, I can do without the allusions to Greek Mythology.

The novel was excellent. I'm going to have to re-read it now.

I’m watching this now, and I think it’s exceptional.

However, it’s impossible for me not to compare it to the first season of The Terror, which was perfection. Impossible standards, really.
