As I told you back in November the first (only?) season of Lovecraft Country is out on blu-ray today, and I totally recommend you check it out if you missed it when HBO aired it last fall -- not just because as I argued at Pajiba in December that actor Jonathan Majors was the hottest out of the very hot 2020 pack. (Not just but I dare you to look at this post, or this one, and think otherwise.) The show swings hard and yes sometimes misses, but sometimes not, and I hope if they do make a second season (which has not been confirmed yet) they learn from the big connects. With the right touch this could be a "first season of Buffy" thing, where everything truly comes together with season two. Did y'all watch?

I watched. And . . . It's very ambitious. but all over the place. Compelling and scattershot. But for me, Jurnee Smollett, Aunjanue Ellis, Wunmi Mosaku, and the always reliable Michael Kenneth Williams were the ones to watch.
