Good Morning, World

No, after three weeks of saying I am not watching Bridgerton I have not started watching Bridgerton. I just already knew of this scene's existence thanks to other folks and what with my Jonathan Bailey Crush developing (multiplying wildly, really) all on its lonesome it was beginning to seem silly, not sharing this, waiting for the day I might watch Bridgerton which is never going to come. But! To put some "but" in a post that's really, when it comes down to it, just about a "butt" -- I did watch Phoebe Waller-Bridge's 2016 pre-Fleabag series Crashing finally last night!

Yes the entire damn thing! It's only six half-hour-long episodes, don't look at me that way. And it being only six episodes is literally the only bad thing about the show -- you very much want sixty more by the time it ends. I guess that's Phoebe's thing? Leave 'em wanting more? (More. More. So much more they're considering forming an angry mob. Hey Phoebe! I hope you're working over quarantine and not just taking dance classes with Harry Styles!) Anyway Crashing is on Netflix and you need to watch it, if you haven't yet. Jonathan Bailey is on it and is, surprise surprise, incredibly sexy, playing a wily cocktease with homoerotic under... over... everywhere-tones. We'll probably gif some of his scenes on that show at some point, but until then back to Bridgerton. Hit the jump for gifs (not to mention that butt I was talking about)...

I’m slightly resisting Bridgerton too. Not sure why...maybe it’s because I know what’s gonna happen? Or there are so many other options. White waspy things can wait. Shows with people of color and new points of view are at the front of the line for me. I didn’t know who Kaley Cuoco was and a friend recommended her show The Flight Attendant. I thought she was Japanese ala Kuoko or something to that effect and was excited to see a murder mystery starring an Asian actress. I didn’t give it much thought. Clearly I was surprised at my erroneous assumption. And here we have yet another glamorous portrayal of a beautiful white person in gorgeous settings and I was very disappointed. The show isnt bad, just nothing new.

Bridgerton is a delight to watch - aside from the obvious charms of Bailey and the other gentlemen as well as the sumptuous costumes and production it stirs up an interesting take on racial politics. Fluff it is, but it's good fluff.

I gave up 2.5 episodes in. It’s dull with no redeeming qualities. Two good looking guys but that’s it. The costumes and the sets are cheap looking and hideous. It’s not even ‘so bad it’s good’ soap opera stuff it’s just dull nothing.
