Michael Cimino Five Times

.
In case you drew the premiere date of the upcoming Hulu series Love Victor (yes a spin-off of Love Simon) on your desk calendar on the date June 19th surrounded by a big cartoony heart, I've got some bad news if that wasn't drawn in pencil -- Hulu just shifted the date to June 17th. Which is good news in general -- it's two days sooner! It's only bad news if your precious desk calendar's ruined. This is why we don't have desk calendars in the year 2020, I speak to this fictional old-timey reader I've just invented for the purposes of this well-past-expiration gag.

Anyway Love Victor stars Michael Cimino here -- and no I still don't know why he's got the same name as the Heaven's Gate director so don't ask -- and these photos are from the magazine Gay Times (via) wherein they presumably talked to him about the show, gay stuff, et cetera. I wonder if they ask him about the Heaven's Gate director? Maybe I'll have to actually read the interview. You can watch the trailer for Love Victor at this link, and then you can hit the jump for the remaining couple of photos...

The photos look nice, cute, safe, tame. Probably how the show will be.

I was a blubbering, crying mess during the end of Love, Simon. I’m looking forward to the show. I better make sure to hydrate well.

I saw the Love Simon movie and it was like watching a Clearasil commercial. This (and the actor) look much the same. BUT... I'm still glad it exists, it's just not for my demographic

Same as those above. This isn’t for me, but I’m very glad it exists for the young folks who need it.

*insert Laurie Metcalf “It’s never enough” gif. These comments, though. Like, this brings back flashbacks of peeps criticizing Looking. I actually liked that show very much and was super bummed when it got cancelled. Patrick and Richie forever! I get that things have shortcomings and you obviously can’t please everyone...but, shows need time to grow and find their footing. Also, at least from the trailer that I saw, the voiceover explicitly addresses the idealistic story the movie presented. It appears the show will try to have a more nuanced one. Please, give it a try.
