With everything going on yesterday (slash forever) it didn't seem like a good time to mention it but yesterday was the 15th anniversary of this here website you're reading! I started My New Plaid Pants on June 2nd, 2005, just a humble nobody burping his nobody thoughts to nobody at all, and well here we are a whole fifteen years later, basically the same... except now there are some cool people (yes I speak of you, you directly) around reading it.
you can do so here. There's also a link in the right-hand column. I don't survive on the money I make off this site as I am a human being and not a mouse able to subsist on a single crumb for several months (online ads are a real laugh riot, lemme tell ya) but I do work really hard five days a week twelve months a year at providing some fun nonsense to distract from the not fun nonsense. So if you wanna encourage me it's worth the effort, that's one way to do it. Another way would be to leave a nice comment below.
Thanks for hanging around, everybody.
Thank you for what you do. You're the first place I check in the morning and I've learned so much from this page. You are much appreciated!
Happy anniversary, and thanks for everything!
Happy birthday, MNPP!
This is an awesome blog and it's definitely a daily haunt. I hope you know that I, along with many others, love and appreciate your hard work.
New fan, first time commentor. Great site, great taste, great guys. Thank you!
Happy 15th Birthday MNPP! I visit here at least a couple of times a day, thank you Jason for your time, effort, passion and showing us what interests you.
You deserve all the nice comments, have enjoyed MNPP for years. Long may you and the site keep going
Happy Anniversary! Such fun posts and pics! Thanks for sharing your creativity and insight on film and TV!
When I first found this site, and was still in the closet, I would hide the fact that I was reading it. Even though I didn't live with my parents, even though I was the only person who would use my computer, I still cleared my browser history every time, because people discovering that I looked at a site where someone was unabashedly and gleefully gay in public was one of the scariest things I could imagine. I can honestly say that coming back here, day after day, helped me to grow into accepting myself: the fact that being unabashedly gay in public could be so mundane. I got to see someone do it and then go home at the end of the day without the world ripping apart--something that was in very short supply where I grew up. And that helped me learn that I could want--no, demand--that for myself.
It's been a genuine pleasure coming back for the daily nonsense and the gorgeous reviews for 12 years now--thanks.
(I realize that this is maybe overly sentimental and forward for a random blog comment, and I considered not posting it, but now is not the time to resist trying to say something nice.)
I can't believe 15 already! Congratulations! Thank you for all the work!
Thank you so much for all the joy and thoughtfulness and...well...prurience you bring to my life. Love my daily check ins with you. Congrats.
I love the combo of stuff you do in this blog and try never to miss it. Been following it for years though not always commenting. I look forward to it everyday even when I don't always agree with your reviews or your obsessions. :) By the way, I'm surprised you haven't weighed in on The Vast Of Space or did that slip by me. Loved it by the way.....Thanks for all you do.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR SAYING SUCH NICE THINGS. Seriously. Y'all have no idea how much I appreciate y'all just visiting. Much less, like, REvisiting. Not just turning right around out the door, haha.
Joe K -- that specifically is truly one of the most moving things anyone's ever said about this little place, and it means so much to me. That's really all I could hope for, dream of, much less imagine actually happening. Making it easier for one person to live their life openly is really it. IT. It's all I wanted to accomplish. Thank you.
Eugene -- I haven't seen Vast of Space yet, I keep forgetting to watch it, so thank you for the reminder. I'll watch it today and presumably be back with thoughts once I do!
Congratulations, quinceañera! Thank you for all these years of a fun approach to cinema. I make sure every morning to pay a visit to this masterfully clever space to get an oddly profound life lesson, and a gracious gaze to the male body. Here is to you, may the party keep on going for many more years to come!
Happy Birthday, MNPP. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, always thoughtful.
i started a blog on 19 june 2005 and lasted a bit over two years, so i am truly in awe of your ability to keep it up for so long
[it wouldn't be mnpp without some innuendo]
the blog is a daily must read - your sense of humour is fantastic, your taste in men expansive and your reviews are works of art
happy anniversary to you. happy anniversary to us
HBD! I only came across this blog a few months ago when I was searching for sexy Corey Stoll gifs and I have been visiting it regularly ever since. Thank you for the consistently brilliant, day-brightening content xx
Thanks for the nonsense, thanks for the reviews, thanks for bringing to my attention films which might otherwise have passed me by over here in the UK. Keep it up (fnar fnar!)
Happy Anniversary to MNPP which I have been reading on a daily basis for a few of those years now. Thank you for all the good work, the humour, the mens, the movies, books and stories you shared with us. MNPP is mostly one of the reasons why, in lockdown, I start (re)watching movies froms the 40's, 50's, 60's right now !
Happy Anniversary to your site and keep up the good work, from my cultural knowledge and love of cinema to yours, kudo !
I read this site before work in the morning. Always gives my morning a boost.
Sometimes in more ways than one.
You are on my daily scroll because of what you do. Thanks.
