White Man's Burden

.
I know we're all a little wary of (and weary of) (and rightfully so) any more movies that are trying to make us care about white supremacist's feelings, lovingly tracing their redemption arcs. I feel it too, my friends (most especially if they star Sam Rockwell). But my long-standing Garrett Hedlund love, not to mention my log-standing Andrea Riseborough love, demands that I remain interested in Burden...

... a biopic of a real-life KKK member in 90s South Carolina who found a way out and through and so forth thanks to a pastor, here played by Forest Whitaker. The film won some awards at Sundance way way back in the winter of 2018 and has been sitting on a shelf since then -- we've shared photos here and there in the interim -- but it's now gotten a trailer as well as a February 2020 release date. We will see then!
