The Irishman Comes Home

.
The NYFF has announced the first movie of this year's line-up and the Opening Night pic to boot -- Martin Scorsese's long-awaited The Irishman, which some people thought might debut last fall, will premiere there in the gorgeous Alice Tully Hall on September 27th. The movie has Scorsese teaming up with all the old guy faces -- De Niro, Pacino, Keitel, and finally and most excitingly managing to drag Joe Pesci out of retirement. Other actors include Jesse Plemons, Ray Romano, Jack Huston, and the lonely lady Anna Paquin. The film's about yadda yadda mafia stuff, -- read more at NYFF's website -- and apparently includes a ton of CG de-aging on the older actors for flashback sequences, which is what kept it delayed for so long. It's set to premiere on Netflix later in the Fall -- we'll have to see how much time they give the flick before hitting streaming, and how much whining happens surrounding that, oh joy.
