A New York Ripper State of Mind

.
Effortfully self-proclaimed as his ode to Hitchcock, Lucio Fulci's 1982 giallo slasher The New York Ripper has been censored since, um, checks watch, right about 1982. While the location filming in New York is certainly transporting -- you'll feel the grit under your heels -- it really doesn't get much nastier than this one, folks. So gird your stuff and say goodbye to whatever remains of your innocence, cuz the folks at Blue Underground are about to put out a fancy 4K restored blu-ray edition of it with all the bells and whistles -- a pile of special features, the entire soundtrack on disc, and the whole thing's did I mention entirely uncut? Well there are cuts, but they're of the cinematic serial killer variety. I can only imagine. The special edition hits on June 25th, you can pre-order it here, and here's the trailer if you dare...

New York Ripper has all the subtlety of Daffy Duck masturbating on the roof of a Checker cab. So I’m looking forward to the Blu-ray.
