Quote of the Day

.
"[Neill Blomkamp's] idea is that it should be the proper Verhoeven… if Verhoeven had directed a movie right after RoboCop… I think that’s what he is trying to achieve and I hope he does. We’ll see what happens next.”

That's from one of the producers of the in-the-works RoboCop Returns, which is meant to bypass all of the properties that followed the original 1987 film (including the recent reboot with Joel Kinnaman as well as the 1990 sequel I guess) and follow where that first film left off. I don't remember hearing about this? Supposedly it broke as news last year that Neill Blomkamp wanted to do this - I guess when his Alien sequel fell apart this was the next best 80s-sci-fi thing. Blomkamp wants Peter Weller back in the big suit, and I would hope, although she's not mentioned, Nancy fucking Allen, because duh. Anyway my only response to news like this is PAUL VERHOEVEN IS ALIVE, HOLLYWOOD. If you want to make Paul Verhoeven Movies, YOU FUCKING CAN. Peace, out.
