Good Morning, World

.
A good Gratuitous Nicholas Clay post has been far long crazy overdue here at MNPP - I'm just riddled with anxiety (and uh other feelings) whenever I look at Lady Chatterly's Lover and think how much giffing needs to be done from that film in order to do that post right and proper. But I was reminded of LCL last night whilst browsing the schedule for The Quad's upcoming Emmanuelle retrospective - those two soft-cores share a director and they're screening Lady Chatterly. Hot damn! Anyway I'll save that post for then - for now let's take a quick morning dip with Nick Clay in the 1982 Poirot murder mystery Evil Under the Sun, shall we? Hit the jump for a couple more...

I believe in that Agatha Christie the bathing suit was the killer.

Nice cheeks, Nick.

That movie was a train wreck, but Diana Rigg and Maggie Smith were delightfully bitchy in it. On being reminded that Diana's character had also been a chorus girl, Maggie's character comments: "She could always throw her legs higher -- and wider -- than anyone else."

Wondering who Kenneth Branagh will choose to wear those trunks in the remake?

Love this film! It's a bit on the preposterous side but along with the very welcome sight of Nicolas Clay in that speedo the scenery is gorgeous and the cast who are dressed to the nines in elaborate fashion have a great time. Diana Rigg and Maggie Smith make fantastic sparring partners.

The only real drawback is the horrid child who plays the step daughter of Diana Rigg's character (I'm pretty sure she was a relation of someone on the film), she's abysmal.

He was also Lancelot in John Boorman's "Excalibur", And you get to see more of those cheeks.

This was a fun movie. Maggie and Diana do seem to be having a ball, and the location is lovely.
