Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Suspiria (2018)

Susie Bannion: It's all a mess. The one out there...
The one in here... the one that's coming.
Why is everyone so ready to think the worst is over?

Preach, Susie. But at least we can comfort ourselves with the news that one of the best (and severely under-appreciated) films of 2018 is now available on streaming! In case you missed it in theaters (and I think most people did given its weirdly minuscule theatrical release) you can now watch Suspiria over on Amazon. I've seen it about five times now and I'm nowhere near being done with it - you can read my review right here. Oh and the film hits blu-ray at the end of the month if you prefer hard copies like I do. (Minds out of the gutter, people.) Anyway don't worry if you adore the film like I do, history will eventually find us on the right side of the argument. This film's too weird and personal and one-of-a-kind and on-all-counts stunning to ever drift into obscurity.

GOD I love this movie SO MUCH. It's like it was made by dancers, it gets so much painfully right about the profession. Second time in theaters was just as hypnotic as the first. Can't WAIT for the Blu-Ray.

I couldn't agree more. I will buy that Blu-Ray in one of Pat Hingle's dying hearbeats.

I love how a mere picture and quote suffice to conjure up the the suffocating and deranged atmosphere of the film. To say, with no intended pun, that it put a spell on me would be an understatement. I felt both disgusted and enchanted when I left the movie theater ... Which is a good thing! A very good thing! Better to have felt something than to have felt nothing at all, ey?

Anyway, whilst I'm sure it warrants repeated viewings - and oh dear, I really do want to see it again, if only to make sure it was all real and not a crazy fever dream - I also feel that one time is enough to see "the Olga scene". But then again fast-forwarding it would be a waste ... Argh!

(What a movie.)

Agreed, Anon, the Olga scene is a REALLY hard watch every single time. I think it actually gets harder the more you watch the movie since you become more familiar with every character more with re-watches (it's such a stuffed cast after all) and the more you see in Olga the harder it gets to sit through that. But horror should horrify, it's part of the pact we make with these movies, and it's important to the arc of the film that we see the witches are capable of such atrocity.
