Says Simon

.
Have any of you read the book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli? It came out in 2016 and it seems to be "a thing" for the younger crowd (I say from my ice bath at the old folk's home) but first I heard of it was earlier this afternoon when the folks making the movie dropped the poster, which you see above. It's been re-titled Love, Simon as you see, and it stars Nick Robinson, who was really very charming in The Kings of Summer a couple of years back, and also did some movie about dinosaurs and Chris Pratt in tight pants. Here's the plot, vaguely:

"Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing."

The movie's not out until March - it was directed by Greg Berlanti (the one dude army behind TV's superhero craze with Arrow and The Flash and Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow all under his belt,... but most importantly he made The Broken Hearts Club) and written by two of the writers on This Is Us. The movie also stars Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel (although probably not as high-schoolers) and I just feel as if I ought to note here that the last time Duhamel got in front of the camera for Berlanti this happened...

I thought the book was pretty charming. Bought it for my 14 year old and we both enjoyed it.
